"Still one win from 300", also yanks are possibly not going to make the playoffs, bad pitching and they strike out too much....
2 x 1 deity is what you prefer, is ok by me, but a 50 x 50 small land, cont, 5 billion board is what i would want.
Raging is OK also (hate deity and barbs, but what the hell)

Small continent land really places the emphasis on the sea, of which there is little way to combat vet boats from the Lighthouse????

doesn't this limit strategy?

x2x1 i prefer to x2x2 yes...... deity raging i do prefer...if your going to have a med size world....

as for the yanks...the only time i want them to win is when clemens pitches....

agreed spike.....the extra production in x2 is nice, especially without the movement to worry about...

the more i talk settings the more i see why people have the prefs and why no one setting is godlike or best

I like playing in our saturday morning diplo, but for duels I think its too unbalanced.

i never understood why people call 1x1x deity games boring and too slow. a turn in 1x1x deity has an average of 5 seconds before 2000bc and an average of 30-60 seconds the whole game after.

a king 2x2x game takes however 2 minutes average before 2500bc and 5 or more minutes after 2500bc.

What is more boring?

In 2x2x king I am doing something every turn and (re)thinking strats and micro'ing on my offturn.

In 1x1x deity, you have to press enter too many times for somehing to happen.

Btw, who are you playing in 2x2x king for turns to take so long

True enough (one reason why I'm not a big fan of it)

But still... it's all relative. Once the game has progressed, which doesn't take all that long since everybody is hitting enter... it starts to speed up.

I just don't like it because the group I play with usually plays one night stands... Hitting the enter key for half the evening isn't my idea of fun

I just think hut luck and land luck is more critical in 1x1x games. 2x production lessens it a little. An early settler, city or non-chariot in 1x is hard to make up for unless you get the same. A river basin can be key in 1x. In 2x you can make do without it.

we have been down this arguement before, in x1 it may be harder to settle that nomad etc, b/c the land isn't as nice...in x2 you can drop that puppy anywhere....

I don't care if it's harder, you still have it and it's more of an advantage than in 2x.

It's never more than 2 spaces from a special, and any special will do at that point.

still doesn't wash. making a settler in 1x taking 8 turns vs 4 turns in 2x, means I only got 4 free turns of production with that nomad vs 8 in 1x. The relative output from a free city doesn't alter that equation.

I disagree, mainly due to land...the other factor is x2 production with a 50% greater base rate , is more valuable than 1x production at the same base...

plus i think the ability to put out twice as many units to explore more than pays off in the x2 arena..

i just think your bonuses compound better in x2 than they would in x1 ? unless i am mistaken ?????
