it's a good idea. We can pretty much limit to the three we have now. Other parties must be around for a period of time before getting their own icons to prevent abuse.

I think you people are forgetting that this is a gaming site... and not a political forum.
Who really cares what another persons "polictical" label is.
If you can't figure out who is who by now... get real.
Sounds like a waste of the owners time to me...

I think you'd definitely have to be given the Kiljoy Party icon.

I love how many people are blasting members in the OTF for patriotism, yet some people in this thread are just as zealous about meaningless political labels...
Again... it has nothing to do with gaming

There are five (?) different Civ3 Demo Games wth their own icons. Long-standing OT parties can't have icons?
As for Azazel's comment, Mac users are more of a religious group…
I happen to be an Evil Capitalist. I don't hang out on OTF enough for anybody to consider me a party member by reputation.

Maybe that's what the "notepad" feature is for. I've not really figured any practical way to use it before.

Hey an Aristocrat party. Here I'm:
Aristocracy is the elite of mankind
Hmm Fascists are close to Paternal Autocrats, so perhaps we should start our party.
Yes it's a werebat, it’s really cool and my symbol. Galvy the official werebat of Poly.

Political party icons are honestly speaking b-o-r-i-n-g. Do we really have to make politics out of everything? Isn't it enough that we have political discussions in the off-topic forum? Do we really need to have more Civgroup badges? Like there's nothing more essential? I have my political opinions too and vote in elections (despite that seems to be waste of effort nowadays), but I still don't think I need some fancy icon to display what I represent. If you need to have some political party insignia, why not have a custom avatar then? Add your little Republican logos or whatever you want there. As Ming said, this is a gaming community at first and primarily.

But it's one more cool patch to have next to your name. I don't play Civ and I'll admit a little jealousy when I see a post by a Civver who's as decorated as George Patton.

Jealousy that someone ruins his postbit with a gazillion tiny badges that make the avatar look obsolete? Well, a few icons looks okay, but having as many as some DG people have looks abit stupid. There's anyway no prequisite to use icons in order to be in a democracy game, play PBEM games or play NationStates. Whoa. Freedom of choice. Enjoy it as long as it lasts. Use those badges if you want, but don't try to push them on others. If political icons become like a membership card and being e.g. a socialist here warrants that, something has gone wrong. But as long as it's voluntary like with DGs and other such gaming activities, you do as you wish of course. I just find political icons abit far flung on Apolyton.

I don't know that I'd use the political ones, per se, but I'd like to see one for the Apolyton GalCiv Empire. And I guess if I wanted to I could register for all the civ badges just to have them but that seems immoral to me.

You could always start playing Civ. I've heard a rumor it's a fun game.
