2nd Ukrainian Front HQ
At the request of the Marshall, I've finally decided to post the HQ thread for my front.

Well, I've got nothing more to add. Anyone?

Tell us your plans for the winter, or show us, by using some sort of map. And yes, screenshhots would be nice.

good to see that you have finally gotten this going

How does the front look outside of Perekop and sevastopol? Are the Germans advancing on the Don by you yet? I haven't even been able to look at the save file in the past 8 days or so

Sorry about the delay. Other things have been getting in the way slightly.

If the attachment works, you should see a screenshot of the front. My goals for the winter are pretty modest, as you can see; I'm fine with holding the front as it is, taking out as many of the fascists as possible. I'm slightly worried about them crossing the Don at the point that I've marked with a big 'X', but they're tough to dislodge from that point because of the river on that square.

Note to the marshall; I've marked the path of the freighter and I'd prefer that you didn't move it anywhere else; I've noticed that you sometimes like to move my units to places I'd rather they didn't go. Likewise with the cruisers that I sometimes have in the Black Sea.

Also, I have two Labour Brigades in Stalingrad and I'm considering airlifting one to Baku next turn to aid in the placing of roads there. Do you think this is a good idea, or should I hang onto it?

Apologies for the quality of the screenshot. Bloody MS Paint.

We need those roads built around Baku ASAP! Unless they have vital work to do around Stalingrad, airlift them!

Paul

Thanks for posting.

I am technically supposed to move the reinforcements. However if you want to do that go ahead. Just make sure you let me know, and there isn't any movement left! (Then I cant move them )

I was a little concerned about both cruisers being in Perekop. I believe one should be left in Sevastapol. Why? Because if a massive attack on Perekop leads to its loss to the Germans then you have at least one cruiser left in Sevestapol to take out the Karls that will spawn if Perekop Falls.

Also make sure you zero out unit movement or unit "go to" orders. I noticed after your turn that TWO arty units were outside Rostov after what looked like a counterattack. You really need to make sure there is enough movement left after the attack so the Arty units stay in Rostov. They are very vulnerable to counter attack by the Germans The same goes for all your units, at this stage of the scenario. Counterattack the Germans and then retreat back into the cities to heal up.

Great job building up ROSTOV and Perekop.

Don't completely neglect Kerch. If Perekop falls that needs to be your Alamo. Because the Fortifications around Sevetapol are of course homed to Kerch.

Next summer is going to be the big test for your front line. The Facist Pigs will be all over you like flies on feces!

Good Luck!

What I once did (but in a later phase of the war) was launch an amphibious assault on Romania and take Galati. By doing so, you creat a second front. You take some cities with almost no defense, destroy industry and roads and kill as many units as you can. The best time to do this is in winter, for then bombers cannot attack your freighters.

This is not something we can do now, but we could keep this in mind. If the Germans don't react, they loose many cities, if they react, we can defeat them more easily around Stalino, and throw them back to Kherson. Either way, we win! (But this comes only later, when we have more and better units)

i've done this too, but without alot of success untill 1943 onwards. But, properly supported, this could be a real possibility in winter '42/'43 (if we still have the Crimia...). Any chnage of capturing the Romanian oil fields do you think?

Well, if you take Galati, you have one of their oil fields, plus Ploesti lies in range of tank hunters, to destroy their 88mm guns. When we take Ploesti, we get more money AND we deny it from him, together with a passage to Odessa for his Romanian troops. I admit we should only do this in '43, but we could make some preparations (building the right units in time).

It's a long shot, but it could shorten the war with some months (which invasion wasn't a long shot in WWII?)

What, Germans crossing the Don! Comrade Marshal, we MUST stop them AT the Don, not behind it. We must have a forward defence, for we can no longer trade land for time. This is our last line of defence. If they cross the Don, are forces will be cut in two, and scattered around the country. Kill those Nazi pigs immediately, we will not tolerate them in our backyard!

For the Rodina and the Party!

I think we should begin contruction of more minefields at the crossings of the Don and around Stalingrad and Rostov.

Conmcb, what is the status of the road contruction projects in the Caucasian oil fields?

Done in Baku, and Grozny about 50%.

Maikop I think is almost done as well.

There were two labor brigades in Stalingrad that I put to work popping Industry at Ashkatran. The front commander didn't say he wanted them and for what reason so I took them..................................

Their deaths inspired relatives and country men in the belorussian front to take up arms and become partisans!

Outside Rostov did i destroy 2 German infantry divisions and 1 Panzer4.
2 Kv-1 and 2 Naval Infantry arrived to Rostov.

Im going to build a new city at the river of Don to boost the defense there. (68,124)

Why do you fortify units outside Rostov? They will be better protected inside the city, with the tank defenses and AA (in the summer)

i put it there so i could see if the germans moved against Rostov, like a scout.

It's just a old tactic, you might say
