another problem with Independence day 2 was he was supposedly drunk when he wrote that virus. You can't just sober up instantly with black coffee- yet they always do in the movies.

Anything with Robin Williams (specifically Patch Adams, Mrs Doubtfire, as I had the misfortune to sit through those on a plane once). He is one of those people whose face just makes me want to punch him.

I liked some of the movies people bashed here:
Signs - Not very realistic, I agree, but still gets your adrenaline pumping when you know the aliens are there but you can't see them.
Starship troopers - a real junk movie, definitely. If Signs was unrealistic, this was 100 times worse. I mean, how long would it take for a rock thrown by a bug in another solar system to reach earth? And how long would it take for the Terran retaliation force to get there? But it had two scenes that made the movie worth to see at least once. The unisex shower scene ( o Y o ) and the brain bug sucking the guy's scull out.
Taxi Driver - DeNiro was sooo cooool. Talking to me?
But the worst disapointment was Blues Brothers 2000 - After listening to the sound track and having seen the first movie 50 times or so, I had great expectations. Me and my buddies dressed up and took a ride with the pimpmobile, only to see the worst movie in 10 years or so.

If you wanna see a bad recent film, go for Daredevil . You won't be disappointed
Another one I remind...the movie Dune, it looks soooo old now (anyway, the book is so great that it was nearly impossible to make a very good film).

Im split on Dune. Visually, I thought the movie was near perfect. Unfortunately, they mangled the plot so badly it was almost impossible to follow if you hadn't read the book before. So I'd say grade C- , but not one of the worst I've seen.

Yes, the movie version was utter junk. However, if you read the book, it explains how he learned how to do all that stuff. Plus, if you read the book, you'd realize just how horrible and different the movie is from the title.

I dunno about anybody else, but for me, in order to be truly awful, and I mean truly, mind-numbingly awful, a movie has to at least have pretensions of being something good on some level. A movie has to think it's artistic or profound or intense or whatever before it can fail spectacularly enough to be truly bad.
Most of Robin Williams' movies qualify -- Patch Adams isn't so-bad-it's-good, it's so-bad-it's-a-visual-enema. The Cell, the Jennifer Lopez "effort", was putrid because it was trying to achieve a sort of artistic grandeur but foundered on the shoals of an inane script and the fact that Lopez couldn't out-act a corpse on the actingest day of her life if she had an electrified acting machine.
IMO, something like Showgirls, while bad, can't be bad because it never really tries to be good.
Of course, that's just my opinion. YMMV.

Disappointing movies are what get me down, especially when the movie loses it in the final 15 minutes and pulls its punches.
A good example of this was the Al Pacino and Robin Williams (there's that name again!) movie Insomnia. The movie set up a nice little moral dilemma with a couple of characters who were fairly interesting (an amazing feat in a RW film), and then craps out at the end by having both of them shoot each other to the death.
I was ashamed of myself for not seeing it coming. I am saddened by my gullibility in asking the question "How can they ever resolve this?" I cannot freakin' BELIEVE that I forgot that this was an American production, and while endings can be happy/sad/confusing/stunning/shocking they can NOT, nor EVER WILL THEY BE, morally ambiguous.
The bad guys have to lose. We had two bad guys in this movie, so they both had to die. Why the hell didn't I realize that?

A good movie IS when the ending is ambigious morally and otherwise.
That said, Isnomnia had two very good actors that weren't particularly helped by the script and I have the feeling they never really gave themsleves in that movie.

Well, a good movie is a lot of things and not just it's ending.
Insomnia wasn't a bad movie, I just expected more of it. I really shouldn't have mentioned it, but the repeated mentions of Robin Williams' name brought it to mind.
Can he be voted Worst Actor Ever?

Of course it is a lot more other things.
Insomnia was not bad was not something particular either.
Robin Williams tickles our benevolance chords so his acting is irrelevant as happens to aa lot of other actors for a lot of other tickles.

Also I should note Freeway 2. The first one was good with Reese Witherspoon. The second one was perhaps the most disturbing filmaking I have ever seen. Although I hear there is a new artsy movie out today with a 9 minute anal rape scene called Irreversible. I haven't seen it, but that movie may take the award for most disturbing filmaking.
|
Irreversible is old.. I got the DivX so....
Anyway the movie sucks donkey ballz as the only content is shocking material, swearing and actually, childish behaviour... the rape scene you mentioned... Well Monica Belucci is gorgeous, but basically it's just a piece of porn without seeing any dangerous body parts
she just gets raped and then beat up a bit, nothing special, but the movie sucks, really, don't watch it.
How about Wing Commander... A crew in a spaceship actually CARRYING missiles in order to reload etc too funny!
Starship troopers was bad, the acting and the movie itself... As someone else already mentioned, even we could mangle those weak aliens... instead of using WW1 methods
Also I want to kick DEnise Richards in the face... I don't like it, and on top of that she acts like a *****
espcially that horrible smile, makes me go berserk...

Coed = coeducational.
Used to described mixed boy/girl schools. "Extended" to mean most any activity that is mixed sex. Coed naked lacross, etc.
