I wonder if trying to destroy the money supply would do it (and I mean electronically as well as physically)
I mean, what would happen if trillions of dollars dissappeared out of all of the banks (and did not have a possiblility of reentering the economy)

Oh, goody. There's been a noticeable lack of Death of Capitalism/Democracy threads.
Thanks, Jon. You saved the day.

As far as the United States goes, there's a lot of gold lying around that's not being used to give value to the currency. It would take a lot to destroy the monetary flow inside the United States.

It really comes down to whether the govts and the CBs would be able to get things going again. So far they have been able to. Some day I think that things will become unfixable.

You do know, of course, that capitalism and democracy have nothing to do with each other, right?

The nature of Capitalism will never go away. There will always be someone willing to sell you something.
If you are referring to the American system... well that isn't even true Capitalism.
Technically, whenever a new party wins the presidential election, there is a revolution.
You must define what you are talking about. Most of the commies on this board aren't talking about a political system per se, but more a change in the values of humanity. A revolution could not accomplish such a drastic value change. You can't put a government in place that will make people stop being greedy and make them care about their fellow humans. The only thing government can do is create an environment where people have an equal opprotunity to enjoy life. The American system is good, but could be better.

Good point! To destroy capitalism, we must merely destroy the Illuminati, and their alien overlords! That's a helluva lot easier than taking everybody's money and burning it...

*shrug* Sooner or later, a new technology/philosophy/economic system will come along that renders capitalism as quant and backwards as the old feudal system or worshipping a God-King. Capitalism will survive in small, isolated pockets that will be viewed with bemusement by people living in the new system.
Personally, I suspect it would take something like the end of the human condition to achieve this. Not that I think it won't happen, I just don't expect it any time soon.
Glad I'm gonna live forever though.

that was necessary...
But some people do confuse things a bit. They don't realize that economic systems and political systems aren't the same thing.
Like the government of Communism. No such thing. Doesn't exist. That one always pisses me off.

Since socialism has failed as an alternative, I reccomend a return to feudalism. I nominate myself as King.

Canada and Western Europe seem to be doing just fine. But they don't qualify as your definition of "Socialism"... which is very much different from reality.

I love capitalism. I hate the abuses done in it's name. And contrary to the belief of the Cold-War brainwashed masses, social programs and safety nets can co-exist in a free-market consumer goods economy.
