A Sultanate isn't really Fundamentalism (It would be counter-productive to the ottoman Scientific trait)
But it still doesn't rule it out

Considering how uninspired PtW was as an expansion, I'll not hold my breath on this one.
However, the inclusion of the campaigns gives me hope that we will FINALLY be able to create real scenarios in the editor. I'm telling Firaxis right now: If there is no ability to edit diplomacy in the editor, I ain't buying the expansion.

Hmm... How many XP's will we buy before they will spring Civ4? That's the question Firaxis is asking now.
Of course, being the addict that I am, I will probably buy them all! Looking forward to this one. The campaigns hopefully will be well done.

Louis, perhaps, but if it isn't Fundamentalism, I don't know what it is, because it is rather like a Monarchical structure.
(And how did those Turks get Scientific anyway?!)
Plato, not for a looooooong time, I'll bet.

With all these mideastern civs, it would be good if after 3000years a civ was taken over by another, or a new civ suddenly started up instead of a barbarian tribe.
The mesopotamia region had babylonians, sumerians, iraqi civilisations in the same region but each taking over the other..
Maybe a civ can change and have new abilities the way civs change in real life, and also get a new leader with it.. you wouldn't be able to get a new leader every presidential term election though, just maybe 3 per game.
I hope some improvements or units reduce the problems of disasters, like granaries stopping famines, weather satellites stopping hurricanes/tornados (interesting idea)

They should have had "Islamic Caliphate". It was actually a very productive form of government. The Caliphs embraced science and were patrons of the sciences and the arts. But "Sultanate"? That would just be the same thing as "Monarchy" (in Civ terms ) except with a different name.

You know, if the guys at Firaxis are as good as their word-so to speak, then I have to say that, judging from the list of improvements, they do match quite closely some of the more "realistic" suggestions made here!!! (i.e. suggestions which could be implemented without re-writing the entire code-which is more Civ4 territory!) What this means is that, at the end of the day, the Firaxis people DO LISTEN to us-in spite of our whining and harsh words .
What it also tells me is that the developers ALWAYS expected that CivIII would be a game which constantly evolves, rather than getting old and stale-and extinct!!
Words to ponder, I think, and best of luck Firaxis I hope it turns out as good as it sounds .
p.s. Any chance of letting your fans in on a few choice bits of gossip, not currently available on your website?
Yours,
The_Aussie_Lurker.

Some time back, I saw a thing from MS that they would not support WIN 98 after 5/04. For some of you, that means if you want to still play some older games, you will have to keep your current WIN 98 computer and buy a newer P-4 with XP on it.

More Civs, more wonders, more terrain, more units.
Well, WE can do that too.
What we can't do is give the game more diplomatic depth. Who in the name of Jesus, is making the decisions at Firaxis. I keep getting this image of some marketing idiot running the show at Firaxis and not people who actually come up with good ideas - yknow those ideas that people like and make you untold millions of dollars? .. yeah.

More buildings?
Already have enough of those. Building more will just become tedium! Besides, what can they add that won't require a rebalancing of the game?

This is what I want to know about. What enhancements?
Will we finally be able to create either/or situations for techs and buildings?

It talks about a campaign. Does that mean there will finally be scripting for scenarios and even random maps?

More diplomacy is in the cards, as are fixed alliances. Hard to do WWII without it. We can also hope that Briggs' musing about the UN and Iraq may have an influence in this expansion, and not Civ4.

Forget Civ, we should have that in real life.
Hopefully, there will be proper support for adding units. Also, a decent (resolution passing) UN and improved diplomacy.

My wishlist is fairly small, and quite simple:
1) Improved diplomacy (like better UN and more diplomatic options).
2) A few tweaks to the trade model, especially over the sea, to make embargoes and piracy a much better option!!
3) Hopefully, the option to make certain buildings a prerequisite for certain units (this has been on the Firaxis wishlist for a while!)
4) Totally unlocking all of the editor functions in relation to improvements and wonders, corruption and culture. Also, events editing is a MUST!!!
Just a thought. Plz do it for us, Firaxis!!
Yours,
The_Aussie_Lurker.
