Alien Crossfire PBEM broken?
Hey all,

I was in a seven-player game that started almost two years ago. We got through over a hundred turns. However, just recently we had our first player eliminated, at which point the game ended! The player who eliminated him was simply shown a "You win!" screen and the game quit - no further play possible. We thought this might be because the person who was eliminated was the one who started the game but after re-playing the turn to allow him to survive with one city, this same problem occurred when the next player was eliminated a few weeks later. Is this a known bug, or has no one simply played a 7-player game long enough for a player to be eliminated?

It's a bug. Any player must eliminate their last base by obliterating it.

It happens no matter how many human -controlled factions there are. I didn't check the link posted above but it will almost certainly lead you to the accepted practice of having the player self destruct their last base

A variation on this occurrs when the last base is valuable. In that case, the conqueror will usually take over control of the defeated factions last base for the purpose of creating a base to self -destruct after conquering the good base. Essentially, the defeated player is considered "conquered" when the attacker could have taken the last base but did not, because of the bug
