The U.S. is in a road which can ONLY end in eventual despotism......
*sigh*
It WONT be bloody but it WILL happen eventually-my prayer is that it dosent happen in my lifetime-but proboably in my childrens(if I ever have any).
The average American is caring less and less about politics and world events as times goes on, and voter turnout continues to drop...
In a system, where the people are completley uncaring, what is to prevent a charasmatic leader from simply taking power that he shouldnt have gradually-when there is little to no resistance against him?
I dont see how events can play out any other way.......Im afraid the next world changing evil despot(Hitler size) will be the leader of an America populated by people even more apathetic and uncaring than today.

I'm watched as you emotionally lost it.
Have you considered a counselor of some kind ?

I sincerely hope you are wrong, but I think you may be correct and can see it happening. The USA PATRIOT act is a good example of that, and I think that America that love the concepts their nation stands for, as opposed to the government and idea of "knowing your role", should stand up for their rights.

When the patriot act was introduced and there was opposition, people said "Oh dont worry".... then it gets re-ratified later.....permanently.
The process will continue gradually and slowly, with things like that.

A descent into despotism is a possibility (few things are impossible), but claiming it is inevitable is just silly. Take a deep breath, any medication you may need, and relax. Voter turnout & apathy are not good things, but the sky isn't falling.

Yes true and I am on the road of becoming a communist.
Contradictions, oh, blatant contradictions.
But then again I am not American. I prefer a police state than being dead. In Spain we got a 70,000 Civil Guard that interferes heavily with daily life.. now why doesn't your national guard do that?
We shut down newspapers and everything that promote terrorism. And we are in Europe.
So if you think the US has less freedom than Europe, what planet are you on?
The US is a very free country.

Elijahs rule of thumb: Whenever a government said "Its for their own protection", I am always alerted to a totalitarian state.
Dissent is what made America great, and is what will make it better. There is nothing more [empowering] to be right when the government is wrong (i replaced dangerous).

Only a DL would list such a dumb site. And only a DL would use geoshities.
You are just another anarchist.. or the DL of an anarchist here.
DL means double login.

Voter turnout continues to drop as more and more Democrats become dillusioned with their own party and cannot bring themselves to vote Republican.
I expect, though, this trend will reverse decisively in the next election. Bush has been a strong president. The Democrats should nominate an equally strong opponent who opposes everything Bush stands for: Security and Tax Cuts. The people will respond, and in my view, resoundingly reject the Democrat quisling just as once they rejected McGovern.

Oooo I already been done for that weeks ago! but am not any more!
Why do you say that though, I dont see how it is relevant. I am not an anarchist, although I am close, but purely philosophically, in the libertarian socialist sense. Dont associate that with the usual connotations of no rules, no hierarchies etc, because if you read my article, you'll see it doesnt work.
Sure its pretty skeletal (Im working on it) but I'd hardly call 2 hours of straight up typing "dumb"! Why do you say that? Seriously, I want to make it better, my article up there is but a first draft. And yes geocities is appaling, but so is the state of my disposable income! I'll buy a proper site soon.

You read "On Liberty"? He alluded to the idea, I like to think I merely worked on it. Its not an ode to Mill though.

No, really??
Its not leftism, I suppose technically, you could see it is right wing, but not in the present day context. Its kinda beyond left and right though, off hand I can think of at least 4 dimensions in addition to the one dimensional political (left right) spectrum. Its more of a hypersphere than a line.

Well you are neither right authoritarian nor right libertarian.
I am tired of hearing about socialists, communists, nutcases, anarchists.. they are all the same to me. Nut cases. You can preach your own beliefs but stay far away from me.

Show me an American who doesnt love liberty? Once the cloak of the flag that the government is using to justify everything now, is removed, people will surely see things in their true light.
