What music do YOU listen to?
Is most of the music you listen to old (pre-1950) 'middle aged' (1950-1990) or new (post 1990)?
Post any bands you listen to a lot too. I need some new music to DL

I take middle aged to mean "pre-crap". Older is like the grandaddy, to which, one must trace ones roots. New is corrupted by commercialisation, business and pragmatic culture. It has no soul, I like that old time rock n roll.

It's a mix of old, middle, and new. The two genres I have most tracks of are Jazz and House.

The idea was that pre-1950 is all the classical and early jazz stuff, so thats a pretty big range too. The middle was supposed to be all those that like classic rock and that sorta stuff, and the new for anything modern.

Then you choose the one you listen to most often. Not what you like most, but what you listen to most often.

I listen to stuff from all over the place - music from a century ago to music not even released yet. In roughly equal proportions.

Two periods stand out for me: 1965-68 or so, and 2001-present. Least listened to period is very much 1990-99, horrible decade.

I flit all over the place. I've been listening lately to Kode IV, Radiohead, and Mudvayne. If I'm forced to the dial, I go with Public Radio.

Only about 30% of my music collection features pre 1990 music (almost nothing from before 1950). I don't listen to the radio that often, but when I do it's almost exclusively classic rock.
So I guess you can put me down for "New".

I didn't know you were a prog-rock/britpop/nu-metal/eurodisco/AshOR fan!
Genres? You want genres? Er, my main interest right now is in what I call World Urban, ie. different genres from around the world that are part of the same cross-influencing melting pot as American Hip-Hop. Soca, Chutney, Zouk, Bhangra, Dancehall Carioca Funk, etc.
Plus all the usual 60s-70s punk/soul/rock/pop/reggae bollocks.

They write good meaningful lyrics that really get through to me, and they cover so many topics with their songs.
