Hey, when we reach 50,000 or 100,000 users, can we have a huge Global Polymeet where Markos flies the most active 1000 members who want to come to the location?

Well, at our present growth rate that's still over 6800 years away, so I don't think we really need to worry about that right now

Of course, our current rate is 1000 logins per 13 days, so should we be able to keep that up (however unlikely), we will reach the magic 50,000 number in about 8 months. Not too long after Christmas indeed.

at least my list has when the games were released
can't figure out how to attach a chart, however. but then again, that would be sort of redundant, since Locutus has already done the honors
But mine have trend lines

panag,
There was hardly a noticable rise in the number of logins during the release of PtW (since Civ3's release the growth rate has been pretty much a straight line), so I doubt Conquests will have much an an effect either.
DC,
Well, I gave you 32 chances
But your info *can* be used to fill some gaps in my charts (the 9k date and 2k/3k/4k). Where did you get that data anyway? Forums and news are pretty useless for pre-2000 and AFAIK you yourself weren't around yet in '99...
Anyway, what did you use as trendline? I couldn't get any type of trend to look good (floating average was close, but was basically a copy of the existing graph, only slightly smoother)...
I will attach the Growth rate and the Time to reach Milestone charts again with DC's data incorporated:

Gramphos,
I said 3 times already that I knew the date was wrong
But only when I saw DC's date, I knew why: when the news item said month 19-12, it was a typo for 19-2 -- even I should have thought of that
Anyway, here are 2 (hopefully) final graphs, which now also include other milestones: dates of game releases (and other important events, such as birth of Apolyton, Settler I & II and the shutdown of Gamestats). [Yes, I stole the idea from DC ]
And before newbies ask: Gamestats was a network Apolyton was an affiliate of before we went independent. For the first couple of years, we were hosted on their servers. When the dotcom bubble burst, Gamestats went broke, causing some serious access problems for Apolyton (we were even temporarily hosted on a Greek university site to keep the site running, where we suffered from almost as many power blackouts as California )

ah, those good old days when there were less than 5000 of us here. *Andemagnus admits being Elitist*
before 5000 Apo was still fun, everything after that is just nostalgia.
ok! ok! congrats to Apo for another +1000 members.

I object, I was not responsible for the demise of Gamestats. Directly.
