What about dry dock?
Bringing ships at every point you want: sometimes you need lots of battleships on a lake and there is no land tightness narrowly enough for a Panama-City. Just found a city at the seacoast. Bring in the ships, dissolve the city (ships stay on land) move settler one field away, found new city, bring in ships, dissolve...and so on.

I have no problem with that. How about the rest of you? Expensive way to move ships and a bummer if you lose a stack . Fewer opportunities to need that type of thing on our small rock worlds.

I remember when the "dry dock trick" first came up, people considered it a big cheat. But I see your point.

Battleships in Oklahoma?
Oh yeah, that's consistent with game logic.

But we don't allow city bribing.
It would be good for a sneak attack on an inland lake. But dangerous setting up. If you're spotted, it could get dicey.

Yeah... ships caught in port... and a size one city could be nasty
Did anybody ever remember that rule we discussed over the weekend of the lost?

Battleships on an mountain fortress with no city nearby would be interesting to see.

If you're playing the AI, it would be a cruise missle bait area. Do Battleships get the terrain modification defense bonus or the fortress modifier for that matter?

Rah in another thread: The other day I started on the 0 coordinate on a river. I was able to start two cities on the river that both could use the same whale. Sweet.
A rarity sure, but it happens............is Rah clever for exploiting it? Or is he doomed to be eaten alive by his own ferrets for his cynical exploitation?

That has never been discussed here, but I doubt anyone has an objection to using that exploit. You are right, it is a rare occurence. If anyone does, please post it here.

On second thought, you really can't outlaw it since whenever your city grew, it would automatically use the whale. That would make it a bit too tedious, having to remember to take it off every time, and if you missed it once, you wouldn't want to be accused of cheating.

Good point.
There was a very small discussion a while back after I brought it up following a game with War. I don't recall anyone objecting there either, but the discussion didn't really get going IIRC.

I have no problem with two cities using the same special... I remember we were the ones that originally posted about it years ago.

the key was i over thought...........
when two cities can use the same resource....its conceivable to think another city could do the same thing.....
thankfully there was some other decent land around there, so it wasn't a total bust
