Re: RAH rules V: Attack of the Ferrets
Though I thought my post above was quite clear:

I got this response:

So I went back and read again, but still don't see it in the rules post (the first post)...

2. Special stipulations
2a. Not Allowed: Taking too long on your turn without good reason, Stealing Shields (see section 5.), unsinkable boats and non-crashing aircraft, contact with ai (see below), city bribes (see below), alliances, wonder trading, unit teleporting (includes caravans), tech trading, blatant cheats (map peeking, non-unit creation, sabotage proofing, cheat-o-matic, lag-related cheats, etc.), caravan re-homing, selling improvements/disbanding units after losing the city/unit, building the Great Wall in games of 3 players or less, hard feelings.

Contact with AI - One more addition when someone drops and the AI takes over. You many not initiate contact and you must refuse all contact with the AI.

NO city bribe - If the barbs take a city, you OR anyone else may bribe it. BUT, If someone drops out of the game and the AI takes over, and bribes one of your cities. Only the person that owned the city may bribe it back, since it normally shouldn't have been bribed in the first place. AND others should refrain from conquering the city until the original players has taken back control.

2b. Allowed: Incessant whining (see below), automated settlers, incremental buying, black clicking, tech stealing agreements, trade agreements (to allow caravans to be delivered), all other player arrangements (any agreements can broken when advantageous), all wonders (Great Wall is only allowed in games with 4 or more players, other wonders may be banned in duels on player agreement), pre-worked settlers, selling improvements/disbanding units before losing the city/unit, diploguiding, Scouse Gits' Magic Hut Finder Program (see below).
Perhaps this would be a good thing to add to the next thread (as in our game on Saturday, I kept checking to see if Ming left any of his units alone (i.e. not stacked) so that I had the option of bribing (and of course he was not foolish enough to do so) but I am not sure if I would have bribed had there been one that was not stacked, as I was unsure as to the rule)

Just a point, and while it is now clear to me, I am not sure it will be clear to others in the future without changing the first post.

Yes, you are correct, I just naturally assumed it was there. One could make a case that since it's part of the normal play of the game and not listed in the not allowed that it is allowed. But you are right. It's too important of a designation for it only to be inferred.

Cold Wizard. If you see this through all the comments
COULD YOU PLEASE ADD UNIT BRIBING IN THE ALLOWED SECTION.

Thanks.

we have an allowed section......haha.....if i don't see something in the not allowed section i feel free to use it.... but in this case, better safe than having Alexanders Horse start crying over bribing units

Actually this one wasn't as bad as the last one. If you read through it there is considerable disccusion of the game.

Hmmm, back on to a real topic.
I found this cruising another forum and I didn't know this.

In SP mode and in Multiplayer/Hotseat mode orders works normally (for example Settler/Engineer work lasts as described in Info: Settlers-Engineers (GL) ). But in Multiplayer/Internet mode every order to a unit is executed 2 times.

This has effect to fortifying and Settler/Engineer work:
Fortifying don't last 2 turns, but only 1 (i.e. it works immediately); Settler cumulates 2 'works' the turn the order is given (but next turns it adds only 1 'work' to his cumulated 'work'):
For example grassland is reforested in 10 turns normally. But in MP mode this is done in 9 turns if you give the order and let the Settler work without wakening (first turn 2 'works' are made, then 1 'work' is added every turn). And the same work is done in 5 turns if the Settler is wakened and reordered every turn.
Was everyone else aware of this?
And then the inevitable question, Is it a cheat, or just something to exploit.

RAH

I knew it worked on the first turn but didn't realize you had to wake them to get double production every turn.

I usualy forget to wake them anyway, besides, the only reason I usualy mine is when I build a city on a hill or mountain.
(And yes, I did wake up a set mining a city once )

Cheat or not, how much longer would it take for people to wake all their settlers every turn and reissue orders?

Wow, learn something new… didn't think about the ramifications. Reminds me of Civ1 when waking could be done as many times as necessary to complete a task.

I doubt it would add much time in our games. You rarely have more than a handful doing improvements. I'm willing to go along with the group on this one. Even if we dissallow it, people using two settlers on a single road through tough terrain would benefit.

And of course it brings up the infamous XIN transform a mountain in one turn trick. Would that be considered a cheat too?

Let's hear more opinions.
