Those are net saves though, not saved games, they do differ a little...
I'll post a savegame for you when I get back home this afternoon.

This file is one of my saved files for the Red Front Demogame.
Just out of curiosity, what do you need it for?

How to make a mac save PC friendly:
1. Save the file
2. Add .sav to the filename
3. There is no 3

Actually there is #3 the first time.
You must tell your machine which application is to be used to open the file thru properties otherwise the file is unknown to the dumb PC.This is how it was for me on XP.

OK, Smash, thanks for taking a stab at this. I have a non-MP original Mac version, never updated as far as I know.
Good luck!

OK, smash. Here's a typical succession game save (fyi, the current "Silly rules" game) from my iMac. This is the full Mac file name, with ".sav" added to make it Poly-acceptable. No compression.
Hope this helps.

My Civ II version (FW on a PC) could not find the Jrabbit save (too many dots?) and said that the other one was not a game save. But I suspect you already new that would happen.

OK, I try again, this time trying to document the steps.
1. Open Civ2 game
2. Save game, adding .sav and eliminating one period in B.C.
3. Close Civ2
4. Type this reply. Cllick on Browse. Add the just saved game.
5. Submit.
Let's see if this works. The file is 140k in my machine too. I had 8 cities, 13 units.

ok something strange is happening here. Both of those saves are up in the 140k area and neither work using the normal method.Your MACs are adding a bunch of stuff in the save or something.I never had that on my MAC(g3 os 8.5).I may have to drag it out of the "closet of oblivion" and have a looksy.

Well I'm stumped.I have no problem with one of Henrik's saves but the others have some 'extra" stuff in them that just causes "fail to load" or "Civ2 has encountered problems and must shut down"
Rather annoying.Probably something really simple too

Smash
It seems that I have no trouble enclosing readable game saves in an email (to CFC, for instance), so whatever is happening seems to be an unintended consequence of including a game save in a post. However, I can reload my own saves from posts at Apolyton, so whatever is going on is non-destructive. I play entirely from my hard disk without the Civ II CD, if that might could be an issue.
I wish this problem could be solved as I am eager to participate in succession games.

Do you have Maczip?
I used to run saves thru it making a zip. Then unzip straight away. For some reason that would leave me with a plain white "dog's ear' save file which I could then compress and send off to PCers with no further hassles.

I do not have MacZip. I tried using Stuffit (DropStuff) and going both ways but I still didn't get a dog-ear file. Here is the result:

Still messed up and 140 k.Try getting maczip. Its free at download.com.Not too big.Handy to have anyways since stuffit can't make a zip iirc.
Make it into a zip and then decompress with stuffit and see what is left.I seem to recall an option in stuffit "remove mac resource fork" or something like that.Im not sure if that is a problem or not.

OK, I got MacZip (a singularly un-Mac-y program) and I ran this save through MacZip (data fork only) and then stuffit expander and I got a dog-eared file, which is enclosed. (by the way, this is a challenging game to win - you start on Easter Island on a 1-square hill...)
