Well I quite often spend 30 quid on a night out in Cambridge (which is expensive as well, though club entry won't cost more than £6 usually). Now i have to admit to drinking a fair amount, which possibly attributes to this, but I'd be surprised if, not counting transport costs, I'd spend any less than 40 quid on a night out in London.
Food: £7 (Chinatown - best place for cheap food in the West End)
Drinks in Pub: £2 per pint * 5
Club Entrance: £10
Drinks in Club: £3 per bottle (beer) * 4
Food after Club: £3 or so

Actually, go on then... the Astoria is on my "places that get me down" list for the time being, so feel free to suggest alternatives.

That's a cheap pint! Even a pint in Chandos off Trafalgar Square (Sam Smiths pub) costs more than that!

Hmm, the Wetherspoons in Cambridge is £1.80 for a pint of Bodd's or carling, I assumed it'd be similar for Wetherspoons in London. If it's £2.60 or so I suppose, take my expected to total to £45

In the theoretical event of me saying that I wanted to come on the 8th would anyone be able to offer me somewhere to crash for the night?

More than that
Anyone who can't handle five pints is officially a lightweight, I can drink that over a curry before going out Then as i said, I probably drink too much

I can drink more than that, but I don't think I would do that on a night out. On a night out, I usually drink little beer. Vodka, OTOH....

5 pints is almost 3 litres, way too much to be a lightweight for not handling...
Az and me will be labelled the official lightweights of Apolyton after that night

That's the spirit, Ecthelion.
Don't get me wrong, I like beer. But on a night out, to me, it seems inappropriate in large quantities. You need a shot to get you going. You need a couple of more to keep you going. That's sounds better.

Spirits cost a fortune in bars here. You're better off with beer.

Yeah but you'll pay at least £2 per 25ml shot (although the chain pubs do deals, not sure if they go in Central London though) which unit for unit is more expensive than a good beer. And the problem with shots is that you either have nothing to drink for 20 minutes whilst you wait for the others to finish and get the next round in, or you end up propping up the bar because you drink a shot once every 10 minutes for the first 2 hours and then fall over...

No, you don't appreciate how expensive vodka and tequila are. Now when we get up north we can afford to drink and stuff there, but central London is a no-no really for high extravagance...

The only place you might be able to get away with drinking shots is Wetherspoons where they're always considerably cheaper.

nice
though the flights in sum cost 60 euro only, I have to pay like another 20 in taxes and fees for each, ending up with almost 100 euros for the flights alone... now add all the money for beer and shots and trains and so on, and it's still a pretty cheap vacation, given I'm accomodated for free :-p

I pay £2.60-2.80 for a pint of Kronenbourg or similar 5% lager in your average Cambridge pub, so I am assuming the prices in London will be similar.
I remember, back in 1996, in Manchester pints costing £1.47. Those were the days :sigh:
