Azazel: For the daytime, what sort of thing you into? Like art, or theatre or anything at all like that. Just an idea. Anyone here live in London and know it really well?

See what Boris recommends when he comes back. Should be interesting to see what a non-resident thinks is worth doing in London.

Anyways, we could go out in London, and decide depending on whos there whether to go club/pub or even cinema (big leister square cinemas) if people want.
|
So, your setting up an (inter)national meeting and then go watch a movie together ???

Wasn't the sex shops that bother me , but the violence
Although we probably have got some very similar neighborhoods too.

It's a big city, there is violence I didn't think it was much worse in Soho than most districts of London or many other big cities. People+Alcohol=Violence, or so it seems The more people, the more alcohol, the more violence.

Let's see if I can make it to London for a 3rd year in a row, but it's not looking very likely this year.

Any date between 4th & 8th should be ok with me. I wont know definate (work commitments) until maybe a week before though.
Soho........... Its no better or worse than most of central London, yes there are the sex clubs but thats only a small part of it. Soho is not bad compared to Brixton / Bronx etc. Most of the center of London (like all big cities) has the problems of crime (pick pockets), druggies, beggers etc. Leicester Square and most of the West end is the same.
We could always try Pinner!!!!! (joke).

Siro: You can have the same toys here. The dildo won't have "London" written on it, anyway.
In any case, I am not afraid of muggers, etc. That's why I have my fists, my heights, and of course, you guys.

It would have been great to meet a bunch of cool Apolytoners in London and drink some booze with Metal in the background but I doubt I will have the money to do the trip this year.

Zop, if you can get to Hull I can provide you with accomodation and a lift down to London and back, and we could pop across to Manchester as well at some point and see the local apolytoners there...

That'd be cool, but how does the offer stand for Locutus (since it's likely we'll be traveling together)?
I just checked the ferry service from Rotterdam to Hull, and the times are quite bad (only 2100 in the evening), and the price is even worse (~150 euro per person) o_O

They only do night ferries from Rotterdam-Hull, and because of this they're horrendously expensive. If you want to go by ferry, your best bet is to go on the high-speed ferry from Hoek van Holland-Harwich then catch a train to London from there.

Hoek van Holland - Harwich is still €80 for the ferry alone (so excluding train tickets to and from London).
The cheapest we've found so far is to fly from Schiphol to Luton and back from Stanstead to Eindhoven: only costs about €60. Because Zop and I both have student passes, travel within the Netherlands is free for Zop (in the weekends) and very cheap for me (all week), so the only additional costs would be travel within London, which we wouldn't be much different if we'd travel by ferry.
Considering a hotel in the heart of London doesn't have to cost more than about €20 either (of course, we're talking about a dormitory in a backpackers hotel here, not about a penthouse in the Hilton ), taking up Rich's offer and spending the night in Hull would still be a lot more expensive than flying. Plus, flying is by far the fastest and most flexible option as well (60-90 mins flight time, about 10-20 flights a day), which gives Zop and me the opportunity to spend almost 2 full days in London
Of course, Zop and I are still all ears for anyone with a more attractive offer
