Nothing specific has been decided on, just "London - 08/08 - sometime in the evening".
Locutus and I have booked our flight to London. Accommodation is almost arranged.

Yea, that would be sensible. Be sure to check multiple cheap airlines.
Locutus and I are flying EasyJet out and RyanAir back =)

OK, but maybe a site that returns the bestest of all options. this way I never know if there's an even cheaper line

The cheapest will almost certainly be one of those. Ryanair have done free flights before, and both of those should cost peanuts.

yeah, I can only get sh!t connections though... Berlin-London is possible, but no way to an airport in the north of England...
so I need accomodation in London before the meeting. I'd suppose Mike's offer doesn't include putting me up for a longer period of time (2 days upwards )

You could get a flight from Berlin to Stanstead and then one from Stanstead to Manchester, Liverpool or Newcastle. Or you could get to Holland and go by ferry to Hull.

ferry is for old people
getting to London and then to the north would be a little strange...
maybe I should get to London, attend the meeting, go up north with the guys for a week, then go back to L.?
I'd prefer hanging around with them before the meeting though, somewhat...

Ect: Exactly. Fly to London for the meet, and then go back with them. How is everyone getting back to other parts of the UK afterwards? How late do trains run?

I'd still have to make my way back to London later on, but there should be a way...
and I'm sure someone is willing to show me the north and put me up for some time

yep, cheapest and bestest would be going out on thursday the 7th and returning on monday the 18th, 2 weekends included. only works with accomodation given, though. if I take a week off that, give or take a few days, it might end up being a ridiculously short trip. when in Rome...
Prov, you got work those days? MikeH, can you put me up for more than one night, maybe a week later?

Nah, she'll be in London that time, but I don't think she'll be willing to come. I made her register at Apolyton, but she haven't posted even once.

thanks to Peter Triggs for pointing me to this thread
I have a possibility for all those planning to do the London thing.
As Locutus and IW probably know i'm manager of an Internet Cafe in London and if you wanted i could lay on an evening(all nighter?) for a nominal fee.....hmmm...i could get some beers and fill the fridge maybe? whatever really. Normally we are open 9am-12midnight, but on the weekend we have a section of 20 pc's free we could use for some gaming(although it should be noted that the machines are not 3D graphics beasts - they do strat games ok).
I've got a fair collection of games, but i don't have Civ2 Gold - so if you would want to do some Civ multiplayer someone would have to bring the game.(All this can be sorted out if the interest is there).
The most likely time to do this would be from around 10pm untill 6-7am, but it just depends on the day and could be as long as from 12am(Saturday) through to 7am(Sunday).
For those needing accomodation there are a load of cheap Hotels in the area(from around £12ish per night) and a couple of Hostels too. The area is Earls Court which is slightly west of central London.
If this sounds like a good thing to do I'll use Locutus to arrange it through as i've got his email already.
If not then i'll be interested to just meet up and show you a few of the better places to go in London other than clubs and Buckingham Palace

Ecthy: Despite what Bods may have people believe, Wetherspoons are nothing special. Hardly a tourist attraction.
Anyway, what's the deal with mixing Fanta and Coke? All the kids in Germany were drinking that stuff when I was there. Weird.

So would Fanta + Coke + Vodka = a Dummy (a Fake Kick)?
Thor: Sounds like an idea Our own place to hang out for the evening could be cool. Go to some bars beforehand (so Ect can see Wetherspoons, which may not be a tourist attraction, but it's cheap). I'd definatly be up for that, with some site-seeing maybe. What do others think? How much would it cost?

you'll have to wait for the decision of the organisator (Azazel) as well as the elites (Bodd's, Prov etc.)

well costs for having the room for however long would depend on how many wanted me to set it up, but i was figureing about £10 per person for the whole evening which would include atleast one bottle of beer, probably more depending on how many are interested. Duration would be around 10hrs assuming a Sat pm start at 10pm through to 7-8am ish Sunday morning.
This includes internet access on a T1 cable connection, 20 Lan connected PC's(IBM PentiumII 550mhz,64mb ram and 8mb graphics card - told you not mega specs!), but the only probs i've had is on recent FPS titles and i figure we would all rather play strat, as for RON i'm not sure, but i would guess it wasn't too graphics card heavy?
To do it i'll need a min 10 people intrested(to keep my boss happy ), so if any of you guys are intrested then just say so and i'll try to get it going at this end. For those that want to do this i'll also do a scope on the local Hostels and Hotels and give a price list of their rates and a contact number for them

Azazel? What do you think? Be nice to have a place to hang out, if we get bored of paying London bar prices and stuff.
