Well, seeing how most people (or at least those people that responded) seem to prefer the evening, I fully agree with germanos: let's set the start time at 18:00. Of course, if that's too early for anyone, you can always show up later...
So, Saturday 6 September, Amsterdam, Cafe Cuba, 18:00. I'll send out a PM with the details later tonight to everyone who (might/will) come, as a reminder.
Zop, could you give me directions on how to get to Cafe Cuba from the central train station? I *think* I know how to get there but I'm not 100% sure. And I'm sure others would benefit from it as well...
List of people who will come:
Locutus
Zopperoni
Tarquinius
Hueij
atawa
Trajanus
germanos
CapTVK
Lucilla
Major Guz?
Bas?
Provost Harrison?
alva?
Dry?
Barley?

Six o'clock is no problem as far as availability is concerned, but it could be troublesome for getting dinner. As far as I could tell, the café does not serve food.

These are the directions to get to Café Cuba from Central Station:
01) After getting down to the main corridor, move to the main entrance/exit, which is on the south side (if you're standing by an exit overlooking a lot of water, you're at the (wrong) north entrance/exit.
02) Still inside the station (but before the entrance/exit), go to the left where there will be a staircase taking you down to the metro/sneltram. If you do end up outside, look left and the outside entrance of the metro/sneltram stop should be visible.
03) Take the metro that is on your right when you come down the stairs/escalator. Three metros leave from CS: 51, 53, and 54, it doesn't matter which one you take.
04) Nieuwmarkt is the first stop after CS, get out there.
05) Once out of the metro, go left (exit Nieuwmarkt/Koningsstraat).
06) Ascend the stairs/escalator, and then go left (exit Nieuwmarkt).
07) Ascend another staircase/escalator, and you should end up outside.
08) Once outside, go right and the café should be on your right-hand side after about 40 meters.
**) If you need to withdraw money from an ATM, there's a Rabobank ATM two doors before the café.
**) If anyone needs my cell phone number, PM me, and I'll send it to you.

Yeah, I thought of dinner, but figured that if we start at 18:00 that should give everyone enough time to eat beforehand (and I doubt everyone get there at 18:00).
Hmm, I was actually thinking of walking, as it's only a short distance and I enjoy doing so. But I'm sure I'll find it. Odds are I won't be coming from CS anyway (depending on what I plan to do before the meet).

Why not? All the details have been arranged and we have 9 people coming, with another 6 in the 'maybe' department... If everyone shows up (which is doubtful, but you never know), this meet will be even larger (by 1 person ) than the London Meet... :b

Well, if you prefer walking, the Nieuwmarkt isn't to hard to find: exit the trainstation,
go left,
cross the bridge at the end of the busstops,
enter the Zeedijk-district at the alley next to the (Golden tulip?) Hotel (a rather fancy one),
then proceed by basically going right-left all the time,
avoid all prostitutes, junkies and the Satan's Church, and a nice curved street will lead you straight to the Nieuwmarkt. You'll pass by a Buddist Temple, take care there as well.
Oh, and don't forget: Keep your eyes open at ALL times

Nee, de Warmoesstraat loopt tussen de Zeedijk en de Dam, parallel aan de Damrak.
Als je bij Nieuwmarkt uit wil komen, moet je meer naar het oosten toe wandelen.

Sorry for not having shown up since a while but I was on holiday and now I am abroad for work (Germany).
I will highly probably be there (say 80%).
I won't be able to read my mail until this meeting, so if it is cancelled in the mean time... poor me

Dry, that's great Rest assured, the Meet WILL take place
I sent confirmation PMs with the details to everyone on the certain, maybe and unknown lists (plus Franses, since it's in the evening, and he had indicated that that might leave a chance for him, albeit a slim one).
Now it's time to dig up some photos so you'll all be able to recognize us

Okay, here's a pic of the Utrecht Meeting of last year. You see Zop and me (who will certainly be at this meet), CapTVK (who will most likely be there) and Bas (who might be there). The other guy is Mercator, but he won't be at the Meet anyway...

More recent pic of Zop and Me at the London Meeting last month (the other guy is Peter Triggs, a British-Canadian CtP2er).
