It's a stupid law. The law doesn't prevent anybody who wants to drink from doing so. The only real effect it has is to turn normal people having a normal social life into criminals. This can have disastorous effects in some cases, probably the worst of which in the case of very intoxicated people. In cases where people are seriously intoxicated and are in need of medical attention, it is often a reluctant decision to seek medical help for them or not. This is because if they are taken to the hospital, they will be given a heavy fine for underage drinking and the parents will be notified. Worse, if the drinker is a college student, there is a possibility the person will lose his/her scholarship which could imperil their ability to continue at college. So often times the decision to take them to the hopsital won't be made when a personal really needs medical attention.

I don't recall advocating locking up everyone under 21....
That said, your livelyhood won't end if you aren't allowed to get intoxicated until age 21. Suck it up and stay sober until you hit 21. Either that or don't be all pissy when you're carded because you broke the law.

Yes, and robbing a bank is worse than purse snatching, in a manner of speaking, but fundamentally they are the same.

I see. Though I'd STILL put racial discrimination on a higher moral no-no than a drinking age, personally. For the simple reason that a drinking age has SOME basis in statistics.

Why is 21 stupid, but 18 isn't? Why aren't all drinking ages dumb?

"That said, your livelyhood won't end if you aren't allowed to get intoxicated until age 21. "
That doesn't mean it's not an unjust discrimination.
"Why is 21 stupid, but 18 isn't? Why aren't all drinking ages dumb?"
Because when you are below 18 you are still legally a minor.

Lets see, does it infringe upon your Bill of Rights?(no)
Does it keep more people who've been drinking off the streets?(yes)
I see no problem. I'm 20, and I have no such problem.

On a Lighter note, since you probaly like country David, here's something to keep you happy next time you get caught by the Police.
Well after my show thought I'd have a little fun,
hopped on a horse, Lordy sure could run,
well I got a butt kickin' when the police finally caught me,
not a moment too soon Tim Mcgraw jumped in,
did his best Jackie Chan, caught a cop on the chin,
Now I don't understand why they's arrestin' me
CHORUS:
My cellmate thinks I'm sexy, I really turn him on,
he's always starin' at me, when the guards are gone,
I'm runnin' outa cigeretts, he's askin' me to dance,
he says I'm lookin' good in these orange pants.
I really wish Tim Mcgraw was here to protect me...
My cellmate thinks I'm sexy.
I'd give anything to be back on my bus,
I'm hidin' in my bunk but he's climbing on up,
Swears all he wants me to do is sing him one of my songs,
Says he's gotta dream, I'm afraid of what it is,
your never gonna see me on a horse after this,
I only get one call, I hope that Faith is home.
CHORUS:
My cellmate thinks I'm sexy, he just won't leave me alone,
He's blowin' kisses at me, and I'm a duckin' them all,
I hate to break it to him, I'm in no mood for romance.
What part of no don't this fool understand?
Well I'm in big trouble if someone don't come and get me...
My cellmate thinks I'm sexy
Well when day behind bars is long enough,
'cause when I drop that show gold then his eyes light up
CHORUS:
My cellmate thinks I (UH) my cellmate thinks I'm sexy,
I really turn him on, my name is Kenny Chesney,
This aint no where I belong, Me and Tim's in trouble
But if one thing is for sure, George Strait's gonna kick us
off his George Strait tour, I'd call Tracy Lawrence But he's
in the next cell beside me... my cellmate thinks I'm sexy.
(my cellmate thinks I'm sexy)

Discrimination by age and by race are extremely different things. Everyone will be 21 years old one time (unless they died ahead of time), but not everyone wil, be black, or white.
I don;t see anyone arguing here that 12 year olds should get the right to vote (why shouldn't they? its just age discrimination!), have sex, marry, or drive. So it seem clear that evryone here agrees with the notion that rigths can vary by age. The only point of argument is whether the drinking age is too high.
