What was your favorite MOO1 race?
Pick your favorite race
I like the Bulrathi because they just stomp anyone in ground combat.

Psilons of course, and the reason is obvious.

If I'm looking for an easy game, Klackons (extra production helps a lot at the start) or Humans (better relations & trade, good research in three areas and no research penalties). I voted Humans, just because it's so annoying when an AI Human wins the council vote just when I'm ready to win.
BTW, this probably belongs in the MOO1/2 forum...

[+1] for Psilons. Although I generally found I had more fun with other races due to the uncertainty of technology I would get. But still, I loved to dominate my games.

Yeah, the Psilons were good for getting tech, but they still had to slug it out with the other races. Once the Bulrathis get decent weapons, they are INVINCIBLE on the ground.
And I think we can agree that the Darloks are the worst. I have never seen a game where the Darloks were any threat.

I hated playing against the Darloks. I couldn't keep them out of my tech and if by some miracle I could I started getting framed for espionage attempt in the game. I went out of my way to destroy them as quickly as possible.

I always played Klackons in MOO1.
I like the bonus to production.
ACK!

I played klackon most often because of the production and tech discount (heh who remembers that??) but i went through a stage where i wanted to learn how to play every race. there are basically four ways to play: turtle, aggro, expansion, and spy. psilons/humans turtle, mrrshan/bulrathi/meklons aggro, silicoids expand, and darloks spy.
darloks were hardest to learn. the key is computer tech. if you have a substantial tech lead, not only are all other races your tech slaves, but they will have no idea you are the one stealing their tech as well.
i think moo1's spying options were far superior to anything similar in any game, especially "incite revolt."

I did like that option. Especially when there was only one planet left and you could overthrow their entire government.

Always liked humans. Psilons are good too. Races like Bulrathi were not a threat. Stomp them in space and bombard their planets. Makes that ground bonus worthless.

If we're talking about who's best at ground combat, I'd name the Sakkra, not the Bulrathi. Sure, the Bulrathi have a twenty bonus, but when you can afford to launch a mass of troops thrice the size of the enemy planet's population, then do it again in a few turns, that little bonus hardly matters. Not sure who I like best though. I often play as the Klackons just to keep the AI from using them.

That makes two game series that I just love being a militaristic Hive.

Sakkra pop booming was great, although the alkari swarms of itty bitty ships are also cool

Meklar, Psilon, Klackon, in that order. Meklars, because you could have one world with the production capacity of 2 opponent worlds, Psilon for obvious reasons, and Klackon, because they also produce stuff fast, and seem to be very lucky when it comes to getting habitable planets.
to...HolyWarrior: in one game, the darloks were...guardedly hostile...towards me, until about the end. The end was when they came against me with several 32000 ship fleets. Not even black hole generators and death rays could save me.
