CrONoS Help System Activated
--------------------------------------
XVIII) What's these titles under each poster's login? And why some posters have special status?
(added with v.1.05, 26/June/99, totally changed with v.2.0, 21/December/99)
Each poster has a status shown under his username. That is depended by his post count, like this:
-Settler 1-30
-Chieftain 31-100
-Warlord 101-300
-Prince 301-1000
-King 1001-3000
-Emperor 3001-10000
-Deity 10001+
Note: this system is not intended to rank people in any way. It is only meant to give a "civish" modd on the forums. A few, specific, special posters have their own status so that they are easily recognized. For example Brian Reynolds has a "Big Huge Games President" status.

Look at this:
XIX) What happens if there is an abuse of the title system?
(added with v.2.0, 21/December/99, modified with v.2.1, 16/January/00)
To avoid abuse of the title system there are the following rules:
a) spamming(=posting continuous one letter/ word/ phrase/ whatever posts): -20% of post count
b) disablement for one week(for whatever reason): -10% of post count(2 weeks, -20%, etc)
c) club threads(e.g. emperor thread only, etc): thread closed. starter gets -10% of post count
d) post count threads(e.g. "let's see if can get to 500' threads): thread closed. starter gets -10% of post count
one's status might even be changed to "village idiot" if he really acts like one to get to a higher level
======
"I've see no one here having the "Village Idiot" title!!!"

You wnat to see that post count increase - join a demo game. Everybody knows that they are great, you learn about the game, you have fun, you get the post counts quickly, so on and so forth. Just beware, no spamming, flaming or anything else that isn't permitted. It is just that the demo games move so fast and often cover so many toppics that it is easy to talk about things and get to that 500 post fast. Besides, demo games need and love to have new blood.

You would have no idea how many problems I've had with this post-count. Last summer I remember reaching 300 and the last I had checked it was at 384. Then, a long time later I checked again and it said I had 303! And, this one time I had 304 posts, posted a thread and then it said I had 310. Now you guys are saying I have 290. I asked Ming about it and he said he'd look into it, but I haven't gotten a response since then.

I just checked and it said I have 320. Maybe I'm checking wrong. When I check how many posts I have I click 'search for more posts by johncmcleod' and it takes me to a page with links to my posts and says: displaying topics 1-25 out of 320.

Stinger has 261, and you have 296. It's perfectly imaginable you just made 6 posts since my last check of 290. Maybe the view problem is just for you?

I found it. Do posts in the Off Topic Forum not count? I've posted there a ton.

Actually posts in locked threads still count unless you get a PCR.
If a thread is moved to the OTF, the posts no longer count
If a thread is moved FROM the OTF, the posts suddenly count.
