Peanut Butter
Peanut butter -- food of the Gods!
Whether combined with chocolate, spread on crakers, or put on a sandwich with your favorite jam, who can find fault with this miracle food?
Peanut butter is very popular in the United States, where you can find peanut butter in almost any food imaginable, including spead on cheese-flavored crackers.
How popular is peanut butter elsewhere in the world?

My high school German teacher told us the story of the German exchange student who liked peanut butter so much that she gained thirty pounds while she was in the States. (Apparently they have a severe peanut butter shortage in Germany.)

You remind me of the Peanut ads on the subway, Monk.
I used to be a peanut butter addict but gave it up. Once in awhile I'll have almond butter, its better for you, but not nearly so widespread and vastly overpriced.

PB is also good when it comes to carbohydrates — two tablespoons contain only 6 grams total, which breaks down to 2 grams from sugar and 2 grams of fiber ("Simply Jif" creamy).
Also has lots of protein, niacin and decent amounts of vitamin E, iron, riboflavin. No cholesterol, very little sodium. Fatty, yes, but fats from nuts are better than fats from, say, an oily cheeseburger (want meat? check out buffalo burgers — only 2 grams fat per quarter-pounder!).

Peanut Butter and Haggis?
Well, I guess if that's what you really want...

I have 'Yipes Stripes' in the fridge next to my Swiss cheese. It has both PB & J.

Not really. But PB is gross, yes? PB&J is worse, yes?
But Haggis, head cheese, and pies with cow's brains in them are better. Yes?

Peanut butter is very popular here, and has been for as long as I remember, but the idea of combining it with other fillings has not caught on. It would gross people out.

Make sure you get the natural peanut butter as it doesn't have hydrogenated oil in it.
You just have to keep the natural stuff in the fridge is all...

It's an incomplete protein, though. You have to eat it with jelly or milk or something like that to get all 9 essential amino acids.

Why would you want to do that?
Google says that that works with whole wheat bread (rice cakes, too).

i have to say, creamy is far better than crunchy, especially as it melts on fresh toast.

It has to be Crunchy Jif, though. Even better with weird jellies on hamburger buns with chips and a gallon of ice cold milk.
Damn, I'm hungry.

Peanut butter is very popular in Holland... AFAIK it's rather different than in the US though, since they usually don't add any sugar/sweeteners over here.

Peanut butter is perhaps the greatest achievement of civilisation, especially when combined with the 2nd greatest achievement of civilisation: sliced bread.
