Weird Things...
Sometimes things happen in Civ that would be rather unlikely to happen in reality: today I dropped nuclear missiles on all of an enemy's cities and occupied them - the moment I did, they all began celebrating "We Love the President" Day...
"Hooray! Hooray! Three cheers for the man who just reduced our town to radioactive rubble!"
Any more?

Another good one is turning everyone into an entertainer, so there's no food - the citizens are overjoyed that they're all starving.

Diplomacy, anyone?
Can you see, in Real Life, a civilization being allied with another one year, break the alliance and declare war the next year, and being bought off by their original allies the third year?
Also, how 'bout them horsemen charging right into the gun barrels of tanks?

During World War I, this sort of thing did happen occasionally. Usually, it was horsemen charging machine gun posts, but once or twice some idiot of a commander ordered a cavalry charge against a tank.

I do not know of this entire sequence occurring, but during World War II, the Germans and the Soviet Union were allied for their invasion of Poland. The alliance lasted for less than a year before Germany invaded the Soviet-occupied portion of Poland, and from there tried to conquer the Soviets.

They had that kind of stupidity back during the later Middle Ages in Europe, but I was thinking, what kind of country can risk that in the nuclear age?
...hmmm...scratch that...we got away with quite a lot...
How 'bout them legions lining up in battle formation to charge a battle ship stuck in port...dented swords anyone?

In many WWII scenarios, the capture of Berlin leads to a pop-up about hitler's suicide. But when one then checks with the foriegn minister, hitler still leads the Germans!

Didn't this happen in WWII when the Wehrmacht rolled into Poland, which still posessed major cavalry units? Or how about Warriors facing Armor? This happened when Mussolini invaded Ethiopia. I once read that Ethiopians were able to immobilize the crummy Italian Semovente tanks by prying the tracks off the wheels!

Guderians Panzers rolling into Poland at the start of WW2. They were charged by the Pomeranian (sp?) Cavalry and wiped out, every man & horse.
In Civ2 though, chances are you will kill Armour with Cavalry, which is why I give the pikemen flag to Armour.

Anyway, I think the weirdest thing is returning Nukes/Cruise Missiles

Speaking of weird activity by Nukes & Cruise Missiles, how about the whole idea of them flying from one city to another? You know how the AI loves to shuffle Cruise Missiles into a threatened city. What does this represent, the entire support team and its defensive units climbing aboard the missiles themselves and soaring over the ocean to another city and ... landing?
It's too bad there isn't a mechanism in the game that forces you to re-locate missiles by transporting them, not flying them.

How about the fact that you must defend every city with a military unit or it will be easily taken over by another country.
O gee the French just captured Cincinnati.

the ancient egyptians have been working for decades on their pyramide and when it's almost finished, the pharao decides that he want's a big bronze statue in stead and poof, all the stones miraculasly become bronze

China, while having 4 size 3 cities and almost no military force declares war on russia (11 cities), greeks (16 cities) and vikings (8 big cities) in the same turn.
Spain is at war with egypt, convinces the persians to attack egypt, in a couple of turns signing peace, a "Madrid pact to contain persian agression" and finally allying with Egypt against you because you wouldn't pay them 6320 gold for no f***ing reason.
You discover the secret of electricty by visiting ruins of an old village. No, just kidding. Never happened. I think after a certain level of tech. acheaved entering a village automatically gives you money.

Question for Miner
What is the source material for your statement? I have read vast amounts of material on the sep 39 campaign and have never came accross such a reference. However
i have read accounts by an italian war corrospondent that claimed the exact same thing. Alas never with any proof.
http://mops.uci.agh.edu.pl/~rzepinsk/1939/html/cav.htm
Wishing to increase my knowledge. Thanks
