Seven civilizations limit... ugh
I'm pondering an industrial era Europe scenario (probably trite, but the time is a favorite of mine), but the 7 civilizations limit is a serious hinderance. I had planned including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Austria-Hungary, and Neutrals... but that excludes Spain and Turkey. I could put Spain in with the Neutrals, but Turkey is a more important player in the eventual First World War. I don't like the idea of replacing the Neutrals with barbarians either (England went to war with Germany when she marched into Belgium, afterall. And Spain remained neutral). Or combining Germany and Austria into one civ (I doubt the Reich would have survived with all of those pesky Balkan nationalists, not to mention it nearly doubles Germany's size).
Yeah, so I'm probably going to make a sacrifice somewhere.

I would leave Turkey out. The Ottomans were more backward than the Spanish were by the turn of the century anyway. You could give Austria-Hungary or Germany Turkish units through the events file if you really want to include them.

I would replace the Neutrals with the Barbarians and give them 0attack or 0movement units only. You can make peace with them by sending a diplomat into any barbarian city.
You could make Belgium part of the British Empire.
As the Spanish remained neutral I would leave them out and make them part of the Neutrals instead.

Our best minds are working on it.
But I think the CIV2 code was written by Werner Von Braun himself...

Make neutrals barbarians. When Belgium is invaded by Germans, use events to have Britain declare war on Germany.

about civ2 and Anniston
My own dream is to gain access to civ2 main source, and modify it. I hope in 10 years or so Infogrames will make public the code :dreaming:
On topic, Spanish was not important in the WWI, so make us barbarians or Netural

Certain civs will always declare war on each other, when WW2 AI is on...
EG:
England and Germany.

Heh, what a huge hack.
Also, I recall playing one WW2 game as France or someone when the Axis and Allies formed an alliance.

Funny, I always thought it was Microprose that released Civilization 2, not Infogrames.

But Microprose turned into Hasbro, and Hasbro into Infogrames.
