In the Spanish version it continues being Asturias in the list of cities.
In the Readme.txt it says this: * Removed Asturias from Spanish city list.

Just go to the Civ3PTW install folder and open the TEXT folder. Open LABELS.TXT and make sure the top line is
Attempt to connect to Gamespy.
If it looks like this then you will not experience the problem with the text in the Main Menu lining up.
#LABELS
Attempting to connect to Gamespy. (translated in French)
Envoi des parties sauvegardées terminé.
Envoi d'une partie sauvegardée au joueur %d...
etc...
Thanks,
Jesse

They havn't included the U.K. in the recent European release of 1.21f.
Is it because we havn't adopted the single currency.

thanks jesse!
i had to fiddle around too once after trying a mod. instead of '4000 BC' it was '4000 This deal will last until war is redeclared.'
i'd recommend for future games a better method:
either XML-style
Attempting to connect to Gamespy.
.conf style
txt_gameSpyConnect <--TAB--> Attempting to connect to Gamespy.
or something like
txt_gameSpyConnect="Attempting to connect to Gamespy."

Thanks for the tip and the time you have spent to answer JesseSmith but this kind of bugs is not serious at all... as the affirmation the french version of PtW is compatible with a US version of Civ III written on PtW's french boxes...

Believe me or not, its at least worth a try. For some reason the old labels.txt was used for just the French version. The game reads the labels.txt file from top to bottom - if 1 line is off then it messes up all of the text.
It is possible to create this problem with any version of Civ. Just make a backup of your labels.txt, then delete the top line. Run Civ and all of the text will be wrong.
Anyway, sorry for the unacceptably long wait.

One is fan...
But you abuse...
It to create some problem for Civ3 and PTW, whereas the patch is supposed to be that for PTW
One goes repaid conquest full tariff in more, to have the patch PTW 1.21f,
For the release European have had the right of it has some mistakes,
- Patch available PTW 1.14 before the exit of PTW.
- Patch 1.29 of well stocked Civ3 solely with PTW.
- Scenarii of snoopy without graphic, no interest...
I don't know if it comes of Atari (infograms) or Firaxis, but it is inadmissible.
In more I am hopeless in English...

The problem is that when I buy 30€ an extension that is said to be compatible with a US version (the french version is sold more than 54€ without a printed manual) I expect it to run adequately as soon as the installation is finished. I like twicking games and softwares but Civ3 is not worth the pain as far as I am concerned (this sentence is only reflecting my opinion about the game and should not be considered as a firm judgement about its quality).

Thanks to JesseSmith's correction of the Labels.txt the 1.21fF patch runs fine.
So do you...

At least someone at Firaxis has some decency to realise they mucked up and say sorry. Wasn't so hard now, was it?
Maybe this is the start of a new trend...

hi ,
there are french ones around with a manual for about 30 euro's true a friendly shop , ...... if you know any one else who is going to buy tell them to either hold untill november ( look at the civ3 section of poly news ) or send me a mail , .....
firaxis and jesse , after tests its proven now , there are at least 3 different version of the french languages outhere , "infogrames does not comment" but one particular disk that say's "uk" and that was run on a comp without any french on displayed several times errors in both french and english , when you want to play and the disk is not in the drive you get a french message saying to please insert the disk , .....
Firaxis , please make the gold edition us english only , it shall save a lot of money on developments and less troubles for the players (!)
have a nice day

Thanks for your proposal Panag but I fear the cost of sending a copy of Civ3 from Israel (or another location) would offset the advantage of having a french manual. If I meet someone who is interested I will nonetheless tell him...

hi ,
well i travel a lot in europe , ....
and btw , there is a shop in the charles de gaulle airport that offers the uk english one and still has a couple of those special edition boxes in us english in the public section right after the leaving area , i believe its not far away from gate "g" , ....
there is also the newsshop in trhe street of the "republic guards" at the bastile , the shop has some games , both computer and board games , in the back is a larger section with several games , ...
they have all the carton boxed games , not the plastic dvd boxes , .....
if you hold a uk english version you can tell the difference as follows from the plastic dvd boxes , the manual inside has on the back an add from "pc gamer" and has a website link > www-pcgamer.co.uk " all the uk english version have this , then some uk boxes have the letters "uk/fr" next to the bar code , some have "uk" , next to the bar code others dont have this but display a "quickstart in ( and then follow all the scandinavian flags )
the bar code for most uk english also starts wiyh "354" , .....
thats about it , lets hope they make it way more easier with the new gold and conquest xp boxes , that would be great , ..... Firaxis & Atari , ....
have a nice day
