$ 30k per uniform.

$30,000 a pop, hmmm.....

I just don't think it is economically feasible to use this on regular troops. Special forces are another matter of course.
In the future, the war will be faught with unmanned robots. Mechwarriors if you will

I think the real question is: Can I watch porn with it?
I haven't formed opinion about this uniform yet. First I laughed, then I cried, but it has some good features. This certainly does not go good with regular ground troopers, maybe there are some functions for it in other groups. Worth of all that money? Hell no.

I was thinking Aliens, myself...
Well, the new advanced combat rifle (you know, the one with programable "smart bullets") is supposed to be in the same price range, so I don't see this as completely unrealistic.

And to think I was happy when I found out the Army was thinking about redesiging the BDU's.
These uniforms won't be used for the regular grunt. Like Lonestar said, just give me a raise and I'll be happy...

1.It always seems that how reg troops are equipped does seem to matter... BIG time in military history.
2. I'd rather have few crying mothers over national debt. I dunno preferring few casualty over leaving kids on the streets cause they have no education makes me a sick bastard or not, but thats just me.
This just makes it more dissapointing that I aint gonna join the army. I came to my senses btw. I prolly will make more money in 3 years than any amt of college funds army will give me by rotting it away.. so..

I second Lonestars statement.
Not only is it pointlessly expensive, theres very Few instances where walking is more efficient/effective than other methods of transporting.

A Tank could take it out. It would have better armor, speed, and a more powerful main gun.

well mechs are worthless because of the fact they have to walk.
I didn't mean to use robots exactly like that. I would think they would be too unstable for use in real life.

It has nothing to do with walking, and everything to do with being a ridiculously large target with necessarily thin armor at points that are both critical and exposed (i.e., hip actuators, etc.).

and that has to deal with walking
If it wasn't walking it would be lower and have a much smaller profile.

walking doesnt have to necessarily make an object alot taller than you imagine it to be.
Are you imagining a humanoid robot? You can simply have 2 steel pods w hydrolaulics simulating "walking" (aka falling + pushing ground) then it will resolve all those problems.
Still inefficient comapred to wheels. and why would you want a wobbling tank over sturdy tank that rolls on the ground?
