That's bizarre. Of course. I once dated a girl who kept condom mints, right there in her fridge! So then again it's not that bizarre.

I only rename captured cities, except on certain occaisions. Once, I had a front line city that was about to be captured. I renamed it "I'm a ****head". It was soon captured and I got a kick out of seeing that city. (Boy, this is a weird thread

In civ i tend to give names according to the geography.
Meaning, since I always play as the Americans, if i decide to found a city smack dab in the middle of the desert, I will name it Las Vegas or similar...etc...
However, in AC, I have a tendency to put the word "new" in front of my names.
I was born in Brooklyn so I always name a city "new brooklyn".
But I only do this in AC, not civ. The whole new planet thing seems to call for it...

now, in my PtW, Chinese first city is Nanjing, and the chairman is not Mao, but another man, That's queer indeed!
So i like english version. Chinese version is too slow, and maybe can't upgrade to 1.21f

My capital is sometimes named "Death By Chocolate" or "Steve McQueen's Dance Party" to spice up the Advisor screens.
As for units, I only name leader spawning units, such as the "3.14159 Bootsy Collins Legion" or the "Latent Homoerotic Lesbian Tank Unit"
It just depends on my mood

Great thread
Hi,
this is actually a great thread. I've never laughed so much since a long time.
Now seriously: I used to change the city names. I hate when I play with Germans and the city wants to be named Cologne! It's KÖLN !
I also used to change the names of the conqered cities. A city called "UUDHSAGDHGAJHD" can not be integrated properly into my empire!
But since a long time, I never change any names.... I concentrate too much on the strategy, so the game "ambient" is decreasing...That's actually sad! I liked, when the cites were called Palic, Subotica etc, the cities where I was born, lived etc. That's nice and romantic. And I always changed the name of the "emperor" to "cumi da best" and like that...
This is actualy a very nice theme to think about. I think every one of us is playing for fun, to have a nice time. The city and the leader naming and the Palace building sequence is also a part of the game. It's not an strategic issue, but and ambient issue... In my recent games didn't even checked my Palace! Shame on me! I also turned off all the animations. Are we going to play this game whithout any graphic in future? A DOS-like editor screen and nothing else?!?!?!
cheers
cumi

99% of the time I use default names. I don't even change the name of captured cities.

I usually don't rename the different citys, this is simplys because of my lack of imagination. I have done it ones though, I was going to loose a city to germany so I gifted it to Spain instead. To remember that it was my city i named it MIN! (which means mine in swedish).
I do like to rename my leader spawners though. Mr Man or #1 and stuff like that
