I don't have time to join in as a Minister, but I'll gladly continue to serve as Judge (or Citizen) if you want to continue this...

The last few elections, we actually had most of the time problems finding someone to run for president..............
One of the big reason, why the DG stopped as well..............
So we can take you as a volunteer (don't mind the gun in your back )

There seems to be some activity again here.
Well I am still around but I am not sure I will be able to make it for the chats as, when I am available, I am very busy as soon as the sun goes down.
Counting myself, since Frozzy's proposal we are only five to have posted something in this thread.

I'm pretty sure Frozzy has no interest in returning, we talked a couple months ago right after the last election and he mentioned no interest in playing anymore.
(I'm not interested in joining again either, just came by to wish you guys good luck against the enemy)

A game with five participants doesn't need three judges. It needs none. Neither does it need a constitution. Don't make it overly complicated, or it will die again. You previous game died, because it was too bureaucratic and people begun to lose interest. There was no need to copy all that governmental stuff from the Civ3 game, which had 50+ active participants.
As far as I see, all you need is a First Consul (the player and poster of screenshots, in war time he has the title Emperor) and a Senate (everyone else). Take a cool civ (not that it would make a difference in this game, it's just for the roleplay feeling). Rome coming to my mind, SPQR. Have the whole bunch of ancient civs as opponents, I talk about Celts, Germanics, Goths, Greeks, Egyptians, Carthaginians etc. Set up a nice map, make elections, create and keep a neat storyline, name your landmarks and your armies and go ahead conquer the world. It takes so little effort.

Good Idea Ralph...
There is an obvious lack of interest in the CTP2 game at the moment. In order to get it going again, somebody just needs to take charge.
Tyrranical dictatorship anyone?
After it gets back off the ground, and more people start to take part, the government can be couped and a democracy can resume.

Well, it definitely has to be somebody who actually plays the game, so it's for certain not me. I don't even have it installed at the moment, so the only role I could play would be consultant and may be idea contributor. But I would like to lurk here again and actually see some action instead of sole spam.

I agree reforms will be needed, but if one person has to fulfill the jobs of 5 people (playing the game, organizing the chats, posting polls, leading discussions, etc, etc), you'll have a hard time finding someone with that much free time on their hand. I for one would never run for such a position...

The only problem I have is sometimes my time...........
But I am thinking about if the French part of the CTP2 DG shall take over and get it started again and as you said, we have to start with a coupe d'etat to take over
But I'll check with my co-dictator and we will inform our slaves peasants afterwards

I thought Sir Ralph's idea was to cut down bureaucracy. That means the person in charge wouldn't do all the poll stuff and so. That is the task of the senate. So whoever of the DG members thinks a poll is needed opens a poll and if there is no dicision made the decision is made while playing.

You're the dictator, so go ahead. I already have put in all I wanted to say (which is pretty much all I know ). The only thing I would suggest is: Don't make lots of boring polls, like "Should we set the less or more goods slider to 60% or 70%" or "Public works to 20% or 30%". Think of an interesting scenario (be it the Roman one I suggested or some other), create a map with the appropriate setting (1-2 big continents if playing Rome, many islands if the Vikings etc.) and set all sliders to reasonable values. If there are alternatives, you can still poll, but keep it simple.
The make or break will be the right roleplaying. This attracts demogamers, and not lots and lots of polls about judges, constitutions and amendments. You could even attract me, if you do it right. Let your constitution be:
Death to the bureaucracy! Let fun and joy take over the game!
