Tale of the Years 725 BC to 450 BC
The Tale of the Years – 450 BC
Numerous units are exploring throughout all turns…
725 BC – Moved Workers and adjusted production as recommended by the City-Planner.
700 BC – Rush Chariot in Enron (41G). Nomads arrive at Dominion to start working on Roads. Units approaching Kyoto. Japanese Legion vanishes, no idea of direction. Pop Hut – 1 Barb Horse.
675 BC – Enron completes Chariot, starts Temple. Pop Hut – MYSTICISM. Units moving toward Kyoto.
650 BC - Romans build Pyramids. Americans and Germans change to Hanging Gardens. Units moving toward Kyoto. Pop Hut – PHILOSOPHY! Disband Warrior in Imperialis to complete Temple.
625 BC – A Glorious Age of Philosophy has begun! We are evidently contemplative conquerors. We discover Polytheism and start researching Monotheism. Imperialis completes Temple, starts Barracks in accordance with Buildlist (Temple/Barracks/Library). Pop Hut – NONE Legion. Move 2 Legions, 1 Archer, and 1 Horse in attack range of Kyoto.
600 BC - Kyoto mounts a pre-emptive attack on 3 units! 1 Legion is killed outright, 2nd Legion survives easily is made Vet, Archer attacked and wounded. In turn, our Horse attacks and kills a Phalanx, Legion attacks and kills a very wounded Legion, and Kyoto’s flag goes down. Our Archer storms through the opened city gates and destroys the city in a fit of rage. We get 19 G but no techs.
575 BC – Pop Hut – MEDICINE. Pop Hut – UNIVERSITY. Meet Japanese Horse and agree to see Emissary. He offers peace and I refuse. He then offers 150G and I accept a cease-fire. We need more units to arrive anyway. I try for Tribute, but am refused.
550 BC – Americans complete Hanging Gardens. Germans change to Colossus. A Barb Horse appears near Enron but also close to where Settlers are going to establish a science city. Rush a Temple in Enron (forgot to write down how much gold it cost) and move Chariot out to ambush Barb and/or protect Settlers. Establish science city of (Isaac) “Newton” at designated spot between Enron and Pax. Complete Phalanx in Majestica and start Barracks. Fortify severely wounded Horse from Kyoto attack on Mountain to recuperate. Move Archer onto Japanese mine for safety. Move Legion to different Mountain for safety.
525 BC – Enron completes Temple and starts Library. Dominion completes Settler and starts Temple. At least 2 Barb units join 1st near Enron. Chariot kills 1st Barb Horse and moves toward Newton. Dominion Settlers start road to Majestica.
500 BC – Germans complete Colossus. Pax completes Barracks and starts Temple. Glorificus completes Settlers and starts Barracks. We find Japanese city of Osaka!
475 BC – Barb Horse attacks Enron and kills Phalanx but is very severely wounded. Japanese Emissary appears and I accept negotiations; maybe we can get more gold out of them. He threatens they will kill us all if we don’t leave and then backs away when he sees our seasoned forces. We laugh at him and pelt him with rotting squirrels as he flees. I decide to test our brave lone Warrior in Enron. He attacks and kills the Barb Horse and becomes Vet! I re-fortify him in city. Rush Phalanx in Newton (41G).
450 BC – Pop Hut – 50G.

I'd almost rather be getting gold from the huts at this point. Adjusting our tax rate to max gold does not gain us much. Maybe we should consider a high luxury rate... Even at 70% (max) our tech reasearch rate is horrible!

a few notes after taking a look at the just posted maps:
1) this map deffinatly is strange
2) we seem to have uncovered a big chunk of it unless it is enormously wide ... Where the hell is everybody hiding? (are we playing 7 civ?)
3) Pestilence ??? ... just love it (Now we still need War, Famine, and Death to make this Apocalypse real )
Shade
PS the idea of abolishing scientists: that was a joke please noone take this serious we really need them

1. It is definately a strange map. Very artificial and designed to cause problems in establishing cities and moving units.
2. It is a wide map, I think. The "world" map I displayed is just the part we have explored. The whole map is larger East and West. I get the impression we have only explored about 1/4 the width.
3. Glad you liked the name of the city. War, Famine, and Death sound like good names for the next several cities we establish or conquer. There was some early discussion about city names being "dangerous" and I am trying to follow that idea. I have "Plague" on my list of good names, but using the "4 horsemen" is a good one.

It seems as though much progress was made. Well done. All ministers and citizens should be pleased, perhaps with the exception of our foreign minister, who seems to be advising with no one listening. (Oh well, who needs embassies with civilizations that will soon be destroyed )
One question though: The summary seems fairly all inclusive, yet you do not tell us when the other cities were founded. Was this an oversight?
I also like the themed city names btw

I mentioned that in 550 BC we estsblished the science city of Newton. Did you have concerns in mind?

Why?
Once we get crusaders, we should shift to a tax regime and crank out troops and improvements.
Right now, we are almost at the break-even point with regards to tax.
We are only making one tax per turn. We need to increase our trade rate, and to do so, we need cash before science.
Also, look at our technologies, what important unit or technology are we missing? Fundamentalism?
We only need Monotheism and Conscription.
Conscription requires Gunpowder and Democracy.
Democracy requires Banking and Republic
Banking requires Trade and University
Gunpowder requires Invention and Iron Working
Invention requires Literacy and Engineering
So the techs we need for Fundamentalism are:
Monotheism,
Banking,
Engineering, Invention
We would need to research
Democracy-Gunpowder-Conscription-Fundamentalism.
Four techs, that's all, depending on the hut luck.
Let's hope we get Monotheism and Banking before Invention.
