Paving the way straight.
Wow... 1K posts.
better make this one a doozy.
King Cavebear:
Let us greet our brave new citizens for founding the new cities of pestilence, devastation and our future SSC, Newton.

I am happy to report the imminent completion of the road from Newton to Dominion. It will now take a crusader 3 turns to traverse the 18 squares of terrain, a tremendous improvement in efficiency.
However, our lazy citizens still insist on growing excess food rather than bartering goods in scarce supply.
One example is the city of Enron:

Changing the special worked to the Fur will increase our trade by three, our beakers by 2 and coins by 1.
Another is our capital Imperialis.

Working the roaded grassland shield square increases trade by one, adding 1 coin.
This will triple our current tax surplus, from 1 to 3 gold per turn!
Now I also recommend raising taxes once we discover the technology of Monotheism, to encourage our restless young men both to worship in glorious cathedrals, and to embark on crusades to smite the infidels.
I also have noticed some shield support eroding our productive capacity. Outstanding examples are Dominion and majestica supporting units at a cost of 3 shields a turn!
I recommend building a city to rehome some of the units, and to also place some of the burden on any newly captured Japanese citizens. By eliminating support payments, we would increase production by 20% across the entire empire.
Finally, our buildlist:

No changes recommended, although we should see how viable a marketplace will be with tax at 60%.

No explorers-use units that can attack.
Move Enron to the fur and Imperialis to the grass.
Also, were we planning to Xin any of the cities once they get to size 5? Thatäs the onlz reason I can think of for leaving Imperialis working the same squares, to hurry the process along a bit.

If we can support a couple of Explorers at no shield cost, they would be helpful on this barrier-filled map. Even the Horses have trouble moving around quickly.
I've been trying to grow our cities a bit, so that we can increase shield production, so I've been emphsizing food over trade. We have been getting a good amount of gold from huts, and increasing our trade slightly in the small cities does not gain us much at all. Let's try to get the cities to size 5 and maybe then grow them with WLTxD celebrations.
The Settler west of Glorificus is intended to establish a new city to take advantage of Specials, get closer to our enemies, and allow the rehoming of some units:

I would suggest to let the archer pop the hut.

It would take 2 extra turns, but I agree that's probably worth it.
