I don't get anti-smoking ads...
the always show some kids doing something and one of them randomly asking if people want a cigarette... why would this teenager who went to the trouble of getting cigarettes and paid for them, why would they ever just start giving away cigarettes willy nilly?

i dont get these ads.

thanks

some of the ads work. some of them don't.

like, i remember the "this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs" ad... i thought those worked well. these recent ones equating it to terrorism, well, i don't really get. ah, well.

Friendship. Generosity. Altruism. Sex. Fun

Next you'll be complaining about people like me who give their hard-earned loonies to subway musicians.

"Are you telling me that by buying drugs, I'm giving money to terrorists?"
"Uh huh."
.....
.....
.....
"Really?"
"Yep."

DRUG MONEY HELPS SUPPORT TERROR.

Incredibly ineffective.

I liked the "this is your brain on drugs" commercials, and the ones where they showed actual dead organs and how they were effected by drugs.

I hate the drug money supports terror ones, though It doesn't smoothly flow, and its artistic value is INCREDIBLY low

Agreed....

Especially since their target market (Highschool kids) mostly just smoke pot or cigaretts (note I said mostly... there are some exceptions...) the add if it was truthfull should be more along the lines of "Drugs supports Billy next door... he needs more money for grow lights, and booze."

most kids are communists these days.

either that, or they're corporate shills for the tobacco company, getting kids addicted.

Well, since they generally steal them it's not like they're losing anything. I was randomly offered cigarettes and drugs when I was in high school.

Its a propaganda. Even if it is for a "just" cause. What they want is an effect and in order to get that effect they'll employ whatever strategy they can to maximize the effect desired. Truly unbiased, neutral and objective ad should run something like "Heres the negative side to smoking and here are some positive side to smoking and here are some misconceptions of smoking.. "

But I guess it turns out fairoverall, cause tabacco companies use propaganda of their own anyway, so it neutralizes it out.

When I used to smoke, I didnt give out my ciggies even if they asked. I totally didnt get the mentality of smokers developing a courtesy that almost made it mandatory to give out their expensively taxed ciggaretes whenever asked just as if it was some cheap ass stick of gum.

DinoDoc:

Here in Korea, men stay often until late 30s, and unmarried girls often never leave.

In fact, quite often the kids don't leave, because grandpa lives with the family, the oldest son just becomes 'head of the family'.

Korea is proof you can cram an entire extended family into a tiny appartment.

The worst commercials are the anti-Marijuana ones.

What a crock.

I don't know, personally my biggest beef with these sorts of ad campaigns is that they assume that kids being offered- and accepting, moreover, unless given proper guidance- tobacco, drugs, alcohol, etc., is the norm. Honestly, I was never offered any such things in school, and neither were any of my friends- and supposedly it's "normal" that peer pressure is all but forcing them on you by about fifth grade.
