Yes, but only if you donate a pint of blood to the Apolyton stores, so that we can trace you down and pluck out your eyebrows, should you vanish from the game.
(I want to finish one some day)
Cheers!
PS: I'll reserve some o' that Morganic juice.
Let's leave two more slots open, aim for 4 players (though y'know we'll get 5 at least)

I'd like in on this. I'll try the Univ. Is this to be a SMAC or SMAX game?

Are you willing to dedicate up to two years of your life, soldier?
On second thought, book me in as The Hive.

Well, I can fit in just one more...
If people are really anxious to finish a game then we should restrict it to 4 humans, and make it a small or tiny map. Standard at most, I've had some fun standard map games.
In that case, I'll take the Spartans.

We've got four players.
Fill in the blanks:
Fraslaw fraslaw@yahoo.co.uk _______
duMa modowd724@hotmail.com Hive
Chaos Theory _____________________ University
Curiosity _____________________ Spartans
It appears it's SMAC, but if everyone has SMACX,
I wouldn't mind giving that a go.
(and if you don't and you're interested, send me
email, I know a place with a really good price)
We need a CMN. I know a few. Let's fill in the blanks first, then I'll approach one.
Oh yeah... what kind of rules do we want?
I'm leaning for the 'standards' and 'average', but would kinda' like to see Blind Research on. What say ye?
I'd also like to point out the PBEM Tournament Rules, which outlines the PBEM specific rules/restrictions on exploiting bugs. Standard issue.
Fill the thread, gentlemen (or ladies, it's so hard to tell on this medium... but it's pretty easy to assume)
G'night.

My email: bblaha at ieee . org
I have SMAX and would weakly prefer it to SMAC
I like ordinary rules, with random events killed. Blind research is tolerable, though answer this: is Zak's free first tech blind or chosen?

Cool!
So we have four players.
I'll be Gaians if anyone doens't mind!?
Any rules are ok with me. Blind research is fine!
Unfortunately I don't have alien crossfire so it'll have to be the original, and yes, finishing (which will probably involve me getting a beating!) would be good!
Since this is my first multiplayer game, is there anything else I should know etc?
Cheers!
Frank
P.S. yeah, if anyone knows where I can get Alien crossfire I'd be interested!

One comment on your intended blind research. Most PBEMS avoid it because it slows down the game ( it can take years longer to get to desired development and weapons tech and the games therefore often go much much longer)--it can also unbalance things slighty if you leave research totally to "luck . . . its not so bad if you permit the selection of research categories ( if you look into the matter you can pretty often select which tech comes next even in BLIND)
And Pbems DO finish. I have finished about 20 multiplayer and another 20 duels with maybe 7 or 8 games die out . The key is finding reliable players. Now, even if a guy disappears, we can usually find a replacement. Pretty much all the experienced folks have taken on factions as replacement players at one time or another.
And duma . . . if you want a faster game with a better chance of finishing, try a duel.

My e-mail: moughanj@tcd.ie
I don't mind having blind reseach on, but I do consider it a little unfair on the builder factions; IMO it makes the momentum beelines more accessible than the builder ones. Obviously, as Spartans, I'll manage if everyone else wants it on.
Either version is fine by me.

Ok so when do we start?
We have four players and 4 factions picked. It looks like it has to be standard SMAC version 4.0 if we all wanna play.
We just need a start time and the email for Chaos Theory. I don't know if the one below is correct?
Rules look like blind research is ok.
No sing bugs is good.
A random map is fine for me, I honestly have no preferneces since this is my first multplayer game, I don't mind.
Fraslaw fraslaw@yahoo.co.uk = Gaia
duMa modowd724@hotmail.com = Hive
Chaos Theory bblaha at ieee . org = University (is that really your email?!)
Curiosity moughanj@tcd.ie = Spartans
Ok so, who starts?!

The email address is correct, if you convert the obvious words to their appropriate symbols. Expressing it in that way makes it slightly harder to harvest for spambots.
I haven't heard the term "sing bug" before... what is it?

Okay. Been a bit slow getting here, death in the family...
I'll send an email to HObbes and see if he feels like setting up another game for us. He'll make the map and hold the passwords and set us up.
Yeah, what's a 'sing bug'? :>

Cool, HObbes is in. He said it could take a few days, though.
One thing (probably of many) that we missed, is what level shall we play at? I'm cool for any.

I simply assumed Transcend, since anything less makes it too easy

Hi all
I'm very sorry to hear that, duMa. Glad you could make it.
Chaos Theory: very clever with the email idea!
'sing bugs' was actually meant to be 'using bugs'. Sorry guys!
Transcend is fine, although the drones are annoying! But I can live with it.
Cheers

I like sing bugs better. We need more sing bugs!
Chaos Theory: I've been here a year and half so far, no spams, but better safe than sorry, I guess.
Transcend is cool with me too. I don't know the difference.
(I had many a variety of imported Irish brews this evening, yumyum)

Yeah, Irish brews aint so bad! i've got plenty of first hand experience for that.
So, I guess we just wait for the map to be set up.
