Congratulations. Now, the next four years of your life will consist of living in a closet with at least one other person and sleeping on milk crates will you try to study while having a hangover.
j/k
Congrats bud

Nah, it's actually longer than 4 years. It's 5 years, that combined with one year longer studies than in the US, it's 6 years.. like 4+2. I'll be doing some software engineering and then some mathematics. Maybe even business..

Diss, I dont' know, if you worked hard, I'm sure you'd make it too. Our Unis are free of charge, so everybody has an equal opportunity to try with the exams. The system is ok, it's equal, but it's tough to get in to some places (applying is free too). Gorvement actually pays us money to study, just a little, so we can buy food and live when we study.. it's all about equality here, it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, it matters how you do in that test.
Kramerman, Yeaaah that's what I'm talking about!
There won't be that many students in our Uni, but it's still rather large, and it has many schools next to it, so overall student population is pretty big.
I have already thought of few schools in the US, and that was my original plan. To study a year or two here, and then finish it up in the US. So far it's looking good..
I have to get some information from my school (man it feels good to say that) about the process.. I already say that U of W in Seattle is listed, I don't know if it's a good school, they have active transfer program, but I can apply to any school as transfer if I want to, I just need to do all the work in that process myself, but it's all good I'm familiar with the system and application process and confident that I'll make it. It's just a question of when and where.. and then I'll try to make contacts and many friends, and express my will of staying in the country, so that maybe I'll be lucky to have a job waiting when I graduate, or go on a tour of searching job so I can get my green card application going on instead of student visa, and then... permanent residency, and maybe even citizenship. That was my first plan, and I'm still on the track!
I also see that I have lots of benefits to success now in the school, because I know what I want and I know how to get it. I really do appreciate this chance I'm given, and I have motivation to study. I have partied a lot already, so I can really focus on studying and trying to get top scores. I still like to party that's for sure, but.. maybe it's better that I entered little older than at the age of 18 when I was not very mature. Not to say I am mature now, but then I was even worse .

I didn't say it was true for everyone. I know I have begun to suffer from this in recent years and that most of my students and colleagues do. So does Pekka by this result.
I guess you think differently.
Who cares? Let's not turn his party thread into a drone on educational theory.

Thanks everyone! Now I have enjoyed myself too much and feeling dizzy. Time to get drunk I suppose. I won't be thanking you anymore, since I'd have to reply to every second post . But thanks once again, your support and advices meant a lot to me and helped me and I won't forget it. This I promise. When I make kazillion trillion dollars, I'll buy Markos a new server.

Kramerman, I don't know if that's a good idea.. I'd end up in the same fraternity, and we'd show people how to party.. could be the end of the world as we know it .
FYI I have looked that Uni up, it's in my list of 30 schools left in my 'I want there'. It won't happen in the next year so... but hey anything can happen!

awesome!
fortunately i dont belong to, nor plan on belonging to any fraternities, so that wont be an immediate problem. tho i might try and start one like in that Will ferrel movie "old school"...
Anyway, if you like live music, good food, and the bar sceen, then you would love Austin (i suppose New Orleans wouldnt be bad for this either... but they have more freaks then austin ) .
Congratualtions again!
EDIT: it would also be nice to be trained by an ex finnish-military guy I need to get stronger so i can kick some ass

Sure, we'll make you lean and mean killing machine! After that you'll have staredown from hell and threatning body language, and the thousand yard stare.
Who doesn't like live music, good food etc..
Watch out, here comes FRANK THE TANK! *BOOM* *BOOM*
edit: Though you look to be in shape from the pictures you sent, but if you're looking to get good exercize, I recommend the training program that is used by the navy seals. It was on the internet at least a while back.. or was it a program for the applicants that is recommended before applying, but it's really good work out.

Great News! But remember that the hard part is not to get in, but to get out. And forget about the chicks if you are in computer science - there are none. But you might find them elsewhere in the student community of course. :b

For Computer Science and Mathematics, U Waterloo (the one in Canada) is excellent. It's not as good as some of the top US places (e.g. MIT) but is the best in Canada.
