Speaking from experience, I couldn't agree more. When I first dabbled with the editor I thought it would be fun to set myself up with 8 of every resource, on my own landmass, with huts all over, a custom city radius for my capital and every attribute. It was as fun as watching an SEC team beat Directional Vermont Tech A&M Poly School for the Blind 77-0. Yeah, it's kind of cool for a little while to see yourself so powerful, but you can't take anything away from it into future games except "It's good to be the king".
