Why Dont People Always Use Plastic Dishes?
You know... the ones that are used only once.
We have a dishwasher, but we dont use it on a daily basis since there arent enough dishes to wash.
So my father(and sometimes mother) spend quite a while every day on washing stuff.
(both me and my sister are lazy bastards )
Why? What's the problem with buying a bunch of plastic one-use dishes once a week and just throwing them all to the garbage when you're done? Why wasting hours on washing them?

You'd end up with a lot of trash, and it is much cheaper to wash a dish than it is to be a new one each time.

Because it woud increse the size of that garbage dump outside Tel Aviv even more?
Mind you, if you start using it for landfill and increase the size of Israel that way, I don't have a problem with it.

I'm serious.
Clothes are different because other people see you in them, and often make up their minds about you on the basis of your clothes.
But in your home, with only your family there, why bother?

Wait, I have a better idea.
Why don't you stop using a dish, Eli, and just grab with your hands instead?

The trash argument is a good one. Someone should invent a recyclable material for dishes.
As for the cost... I'm not so sure. On the long term it definetely costs more, but then you have all that extra time, especially if you're in a large family with no dishwasher.

It's even messier than washing dishes.
Laz : Well, it depends on the person. I really dont care if my plate is plastic or golden.

You could go the South Asia route, eat everything off a banana leaf.

NOT EVEN PLASTIC DISHES!
Oil paper! It comes with the souvlaki.
And not even oil paper if you get a kalamaki. Just a stick of wood.

Paper plates are fine.
Do you realize what the half-life is for plastic?
You're children's children's children will still be dealing with plastic refuse from now.

Yeah. Doc. People buy plastic so they can wash them.
That's the primary reason.

Plastic or not is unimportant. I'm talking about the concept of using one-time dishes vs "permanent" ones.

Why stop at plastic plates? That blank surface is just begging for something to be printed on it. Why not combine disposable plates with TV guides?

Then you should consider banana leaves, or food wrapped in bread.

If ur gonna wash disposables, why not just use regular dishes and wash them?
for those people who think washing disposables saves u money.. I got an idea! dont buy disposables! think of how much money you can save by using the dishes at home!
