On which maps do you play mostly?
Just curious...

I mostly play on standard map size (The one to 4 players), but with all 7 enemies (I like to have it cramped )

I don't have any preferences by the map style, I mostly set it to random, since I like to be supprised...

I'm not a big fan of naval fighting, so I tend to stick with land maps.

I'm a big fan of the Himalaya map, but also Mediterranean and the one (I think new world?) where you each have a small island and there's a big continent in the middle. As for size, so far I've just stuck with the "appropriate" size for the number of players.

So far, I like:
Old World
Mediterranean

I know, it's a small list, maybe I'll experiment.

I only play Big Huge size maps, feeling that anything less is too small.

Right not, I'm diggin' the naval combat, especially the carriers

With size I pick according to the # of players...

Great Lakes is my favorite style.

I usually play random, at first I only played great lakes untill I played a mp map, and got a huge ocean one (which ever map it is whre you all get a continent and a ocean seperates everyone ) and I got wasted due to my inexperience with Naval tactics.

Yes, yes they are. The first time I use them, I just kind of laughed and watched 2 carriers basicly slaughter my enemy's capital. (he didn't think any bombers could reach his capital so he didn't have any AA's )

I prefer maps that are somewhat more Civ-like. I like playing on East Indies maps that I've modded slightly to create a few bigger continents and more water. However, I think Warring States is my favourite so far. It has water, but the land aspect is still of prime importance.

Great Sahara is erm...great! lotsa oil although limited wood can be a bit annoying sometimes, just makes it a bit more of a strategic resource.
Aslo like:
Southwest MEsa
Old World
Great Lakes

Haven't really experimented much yet with the sea maps...going to have to give them a look.

By the way: carriers do rock.

Thats why I acompany them with a fleet of counters units for any Naval military.

If you just use subs your going to have your naval operation shut down in quite a hurry.

Do not try and denie the power of carriers

for my money, i'd rather have a carrier's cost in subs for the most part.

Uber- why? If I already have sea dominance, and a good Navy Armada going, I would definitley want to exploit that and shove some Fighters down my enemies throat via the sea

I don't really have a preferrance as of yet, but most of the time the game randomly chooses ones with hardly any water. As a matter of fact, I have only had one game with naval battles so far during my CTW game, and I lost all my ships. I still had many fishing vessels that the enemy didn't destroy though for some reason.

I like my games more on the crowded side. It makes offence easier - my artillery will still be in my territory.

Try the African water hole, AI do not build ships in that small lake, so you can have your nice little carrier party in it.

I play mostly African water hole or East meet west. Having fun with navy warfare and carriers.

Yeah I'm a great fan of Great Sahara, then Southwest Mesa then Mediterranean. The others are just if I want a change. Tried an Atlantic map and hmmmmmm forgot about a navy till I hmmmm got a rather nasty visit from the computer. Needless to say I was not in a healthy position.

My favorite map is Secret Random.

I typically choose the size appropriate to the # of players in game.

hate maps with water... can't stand the navy... I think it has something to do with those auto-transports

I himalayas (sp?) and Amazon Rainforest.

I also made a bunch of home-made maps in the scenario editor. Mostly maps based around team play, with like a river in the middle and several choke points along the river from mountains and trees... Air Supperiority is really important since you can fly over the trees and mountains and stuff. One of my other favorites is a 4 player (2 vs 2) map I made that has a large area for you to grow in, then then a series of mazes in trees and a large opening in the middle of the map where the mazes meet up kinda.. its fun cause theres little places in the trees where you can hide units for ambushes and stuff and the AI does it fairly often.

I hate naval battles. Its always random land map for me.... dont get me wrong, carriers are sweet, but the fireships just get me too angry, because they are so durn hard to use, and so durn hard to counter when AI uses them.... i just can't micro that well.

So far, I've only tried standard map size / Great Lakes (the default setting), but after my first games I changed the number of other nations from 3 to 5.

Naval maps rock. I play East Indies, British Isles, Atlantic Sea Power, really all of the sea maps. When Carriers get developed, they pretty much rule the seas and have numerous uses. I loved Carriers in CIV3 and I love them here in RoN too.
