Some pop-ups are actually useful.

chegitz, requested popups can be enabled in any recent opera version.
not requested opoups are ALWAYS advertisement, unless they're private messages in new windows.

well you're *technically* able to disable the spyware features of the google toolbar.
in any case, i too use opera for most of my browsing--there are the few sites which it can't render though, and that's why ie or mozilla come in.
of all "spyware", the google toolbar is the only one i'm comfortable with.

Who needs a Google toolbar if all of its functionality is already built-in?

Opera has PageRank, highlighting, google-search-on-toolbar, etc?

Don't thank Apple, thanks KDE...they made the code for it years ago.
Apple repackaged it...
I really don't care if it's built in. I've had free popup blockers for years, too, and it's far more powerful than Safari's (blacklisting, whitelisting).

Nope...
But Opera has everything else... No more IE for me, and if your site doesn't work in Opera? Too bad, there are a lot of other sites I can go to.
To paraphrase GP and Derek: OPERA! OPERA! OPERA!

If the truth is bashing and negative critisism, it's not me who's to blame, but Apple.
Apple took KHTML and reskinned it and added a few contributions to the source. Suddenly Mac users think it's some huge innovation or something.
I've been using KHTML far before Safari came out.

Opera does have google-search-on-toolbar. And Amazon search. And eBay search. And download.com search. And lots more that I never use.

IE has google-search-on-toolbar too, in a way, with the stock IE.
If I type in a word in the address bar, it recognizes it's not a website and searches google for it.

Yep!!
Asher: I knew you'd come round to KDE anyway.
In all seriousness, I concede its not as good as XP or OSX interface, but in the space of a couple of years its come on fantastically well.

It's not spyware really, because it tells you in very big letters in very plain english before you download the version that requires you send data to Google for pagerank to work.
If you don't want that, download the one clearly marked as not sending information back to google.
There's no need to spread misinformation.

I never knew that. Useful.
Doesn't it use MSN Search, not google? Anyway, it doesn't really matter. They're both good.
If only stock IE had the other search options that Opera has on the toolbar I could cross something off my "Op3r4 0wnZ I3" list that all Opera zealots have tatooed onto their chests. I hate doing that, though: it always takes ages for the bleeding to stop. I believe Mac zealots have a similar list, which is why they always resist your arguments so strongly.
Hmmm ... I don't know why I said that. How peculiar. I guess this means it's time for bed.

I think that is the default setting, but can be changed.

Yep. Google Groups search is although available, though you have to hack the config files if you want the other Google variants (strangely enough, Google Images is available from the combo-box searcher, but isn't included by default in the individual search-box palette).

not only does opera have google-search-on-toolbar, but you can access it from the address bar by typing "g" before your search terms:
g apolyton civilization site
that's default behavior. you can also add in other search features to access from the address bar; i've renamed the default google image search prefix, ggi, to just gi.
hey, panag, asher: i don't care who the fvck started it this time, and i don't give a fvcking damn as to which one is better, mac or windows. it's gotten to the point where you guys are just cockfighting, and i don't want to read that sh|t in this thread.
if you guys are going to argue about which fvcking thing is better, just argue about browsers, for chrissake. not blasted osses.
