Profiles always take ages to load. At least, as far back as I can remember (which is admittedly not that long) they were always slow.

They don't do that for me(other than under high traffic on the server). Is it my broadband?

No I don't think you can choose your customized avatar when avatars are disabled. I have tried that the last time.

Wow. Lots of responses.
Thank you Panag, Frozzy and DanQ.
It's just another tool in the arsenal against load.

Well, how much money is another server and how much does Apolyton have? I don't have any clue to the answers of either of these questions.
I don't want to lose the flag or the avatar. It is more than where you're from. It is a statement. For example, my flag is of the UN because I support the UN more than any other country. And my avatar would be a cool picture of Gerry Mulligan. I really like jazz and he's my favorite musician.
Would it help if you made it so only people with a certain amount of posts can see [img] or pictures?

As previously stated, the [img] tags do not affects Apolyton's server. If worst comes to worst, there is a pre-installed option in vBulletin to turn of uploading images to the server in threads. This, I can assure you, is not in the administrators minds, and never will be. As DanQ has previously stated this should not be happening. Apolyton does not need a new servers, but to upgrade the current one. A more sensible question is why is downtime significantly worse than on Settler I with the dual Xeon CPUs which would supposedly, I quote, allow us to have more features, not restrict them.
To answer your question of how much another server would cost, again, Apolyton does not need a new server. Given another 512MB of RAM, it should be fine. However, I state again, Apolyton does not need another server, merely to upgrade the current one.
According to RackShack, a dual Xeon Linux server is AT LEAST $200 per month, and that has 700GB of transfer per month, with 512MB of RAM. A Dual Xeon CPU with 1200GB Transfer per month (this time with 1GB RAM) is $250 per month.

Well who owns Apolyton? And do they have that kind of money?

The server is "hired" (or owned outright, with Rackshack as a technician, not sure) by one Daniel Quick, a.k.a DanQ. He does not have direct access to the server. That is the responsibility of RackShack. Should they accept our donations, they should be able to afford this. However, until such a system is implemented and/or Dan pays for the extra RAM himself (which, quite frankly, costs hardly anything these days).

After your first post, I nearly posted, "No they aren't!" before I realized I had turned them off in my control panel.

Thats why I put "I" rather than Frozzy.
I just quoted you as you had already said what I wanted to say.

The automatic cutout seems to be kicking in every now and again. Better that than not being able to use the site I guess.

I agree. Auto-av-cutout is much better than full cutout.

So when it is cut out automatically when triggered, will it be automatically restored when the load is reduced, or will it need DanQ or MarkG to manually restore?

Have I triggered the auto cutout?
After I posted I thought where is MY avatar? And then I noticed all avatars are gone ...
[Edit] Ok, they are back. What a scare. Why does this keep happenning?
