turn to GF.
At least there is rather more to do than simply hit return, which is all that is usually going on at this stage of a game.

A bit of bad news, I'm afraid. I made a mistake in the bix file.
When I made the privateer the barbarian naval unit I forgot to make it available to the barbarians so there will be no barbarian naval units in the game as it stands. Immortals and Keshiks are in as the barbarian land units.
I don't really see this as a major problem and not worth restarting. However if we do want to put this right we will need to restart and it is better done now when we haven't got very far.
I am happy to carry on but will go with the majority view.

I don't think we need to restart for just that.

We carry on then
I am sure this is the only mistake as it was a late change after I had checked everything else was right.

Sent to Flandrien.
I'm sorry to say this, but I just found out I won't be able to play for the next 4 weeks. This thursday night will be the last time I'll be able to play, with friday morning my last chance to post. How do we call for a replacement?

You make a new thread in this forum asking for a replacement. Are you using a password? Make sure you pass along that information. Privately, of course.

I wasn't joking about starting in the Alps. My start position is in a valley completely bounded by coast or mountains. There is only one spot where a wheeled unit can get out. I don't think I'll bother building many war chariots.
Turn to GF

I've got it. Tonight will be the last night I'll be able to play until mid august.
I am still waiting for someone who hasn't done their good deed for this millenium. It would be a shame to let this game go to waste.

Can some other player take your turn until a replacement is found? I'd be willing to do it since my turn is right before yours. Tell me what you want done and I'll follow your instructions faithfully until someone not in the game takes over.

Thanks. If no replacement pops up until tomorrow, I'l try to come up with some sort of coherent long term strategy and PM it to you along with the password.

I would regret if this would happen. I haven't offered to replace you so far, because I made the map and it is very short after the start, so I remember almost everything. But that would be not so bad as if one of the other players took over for that time. What if it is your neighbor?
Perhaps you try to contact some active players by PM. Maybe this way somebody responds.

I don't want to take over the turn for the reasons mentioned above but what if we can't find a replacement before he leaves? The game will be ruined or we will have to restart without him.

Nah, I still have the admin password. And he always can PM me his. I will replace him, if really nobody else offers his help.

If you have the amin password there is no problem but I would think that you could not take over his turn for the same reasons I can't take over his turn. What if you are his neighbour? Since you have the admin password then let's just try to find a replacement.

This is great news. I just sent my last game to Flandrien. I just hope that when I come back in 4 weeks the game will still be going.
ormuzd: I'll PM you the details.
