Quotes disappear to fast.
I start reading some and they seem humerous/interesting and then they disappear. Is there a quote archive where i can read them at my leisure.

With the Poly server slow in responding this problem isn´t that serious.
Also, there is this little "Pause" button.....

They only seem humourous or interesting because you don't get to the end.
Be careful what you search for.........you may well find it.

Considering some the response time problems recently, I like seeing the quotes flash that quickly.

The best solution is to cancel your DSL or cable internet connection and use dial-up instead. In these days that will ensure that you can read the quotes 10 times and over before they disappear.

Hit back. Then immediately hit pause, before it has a chance to start loading the new page. You could also use the stop button on your browser.

The pause button has never worked for me, but the browser's STOP button does, if you hit it after the quote page makes the transfer request but before the transfer actually occurs.

You must have very good timing. Either that or my connection is a lot faster.

It can't be my timing, because my download speed is almost always dependent on the server on the other end, I've noticed

Alas, if only the quotes were as interesting as they first appeared to be.

Instant solution: Move to the boondocks. Get a 28k modem. Enjoy your reading time.

Even more instant solution:
Get Opera!
Yes, with Opera the pause-button actually works, and if you're too slow, you can just go Back (without having to click Stop)!

This is the standard fortune cookie database. there have been some poly-specific entries added, but you'll have to find the relevant quote threads and look through them for the rest.

Why the heck do we have a half-page of text from Sinclair Lewis in the quotes?
What a waste of time going back to read that one.
