Pacific War Order of Battle Dec. 1941
Hi there!

I find myself in need of precise orders of battle on the divisional level for Dec. 7th 1941. I thought it would be easy, just to make a search on Google for "Order of Battle" 1941, but no. It wasn't as easy as that. So, I've been searching for a while now, and it strikes me, perhaps some of you know where I could find one...(?)

So, does anyone know the location of an Order of Battle for the Pacific Theatre in Dec. 1941, or just for one of the participating nations?

I'm not picky, I don't need regimental, brigade, battalion, level, or lower, just divisional - corps level would even do. And if you know of any OoBs on the army level - well, bring 'em on too!

If not, then I'll have to resort to guesswork, as I had done in the previous version of the scenario that I'm planning to update...

Thanks...

OK, here you go. I'm a real order of battle geek, so I can all but guarentee that this is the best possible collection of links on this topic.

You may be able to get some stuff out of http://web.archive.org/web/200202221...07_pacific.htm (it's a partially saved version of what used to be a brilliant website). Note that some of the all the pictures are clickable if you want more detail.

For more complete info, the Japanese OOB on the 7th of december may be found at: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi...earmy1941.html

The British Commonwealth OOB in Malaysia is at: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi...layan1941.html

The Dutch East Indies OOB can probably be worked out from the articles at: http://www.geocities.com/dutcheastindies/

The Australian OOB is at: http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-..._of_battle.htm (note that the only AIF division in the Pacific was the 8th Division). All the 'Milita' [reservist] divisions were in Australia and were somewhere between 40 and 60% of full fighting strenght.

You should be able to work out the strenght of the US Army in the Philipines from the offical history at: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-P-PI/index.html

Likewise, the offical history of the USAAF should also be useful, it's available at: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/AAF/I/index.html

The Status of the USMC is available at: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi...mcdec7-41.html and the status of the USN's carriers is at: http://www.orbat.com/site/history/hi...arriers41.html

If you're after lots info on the USN then http://pacific.valka.cz/forces/ has the make up of every task group the USN formed in the Pacific War!

I found this when I was digging around my collection of OOBs the other day.* It's the Dutch East Indies OOB on December the 7th and is very cool. Don't ask me where I got it from though - I can't remember.

BTW, on the topic of Pacific OOBs, does anyone know where I could find information on the make-up of USAAF units? I need to break some 'groups' down to squadron level to perfect my massive OOB of the Allied Units in Borneo in 1945.

*For some reason I'd filled it with my collection of NATO OOBs.
