Ironically, they are exactly the words Mrs finbar used when I first told her I'd invited the Oz Civers to our place for dinner. After they'd gone, all she said was, "I told you so".

I can confirm that Mrs Finbar did say that after Horse and deity had gone.

Hey Hydey, its been raining up here and I sprinkled grass seeds over my front lawn after applying weed and feed. Do you think the seeds will take?

grass seeds should germinate but they will struggle to survive if it gets too cold and you cop a frost or snow
It is different for different types of grass seeds.

I still think we could have had one more if Ming had been more aggressive. But then I don't know if we would have had enough connections that would work.

The number of ports was "kind of the issue". Even if we had a fourth machine, we would have had to steal a port from my older daughter (wasn't going to happen) or steal one of my wifes two connections... And I can say for sure THAT WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN
If my oldest daughter had been able to be bought off like the other two, then we would have had her machine, as well as her port.

I think War could have charmed your wife into conceding a port.

Astro Turf. The added bonus will be that Ming and rah will feel quite at home when they come to visit.

You're obviously trying too hard. Do as I do, treat it with contempt, and it will grow like buggery as mine does.
Oh, and when Mrs finbar was in Melbourne for a couple of days the other week, I took the opportunity to extend the vegie garden bed another metre or so out into the lawn. By the time she came back and discovered it, I'd already added cow manure, compost, and mushroom compost. I've calculated that, with half a dozen more of her trips to Melbourne, I should just about have claimed the entire back yard for vegies.
Oh, and the stupid camelia tree is now blooming like a bastard. It seems to have mistaken my frenzied, murderous machete attack for a life-saving prune.

Yes, I wander around the garden past Mrs finbar with bags of mushroom compost up my trouser legs, letting it trickle out very, very gradually so as not to arouse her suspicions.

Seeing how much attention War gave to the onion incident, I don't feel too bad about mentioning that in my post. Gotta admit, nothing funnier than seeing War standing inconspicuously in the back of the tee box as Rah walks up to say something only to do an immediate moon walk with all gears in reverse.
Again, kudos to the twins for their hospitality and to Mrs Ming for putting up with a temporary cockroach invasion.

That's exactly what I was thinking of.
If you put vaulting horse in the back yard I'll know why too.
How did the camelia bush end up in the neighour's yard?
It was having a turn on the vaulting horse.

Damn stupid flowering waste of space it is! I'm thinking of having it declared a Weapon of Mass Interruption (to my vegie growing) and inviting Berzerker down to invade it.

Its an ancient bush and a fine specimen of the species. I'd say its at least 30 years old.
But I agree the placement of it is rather awkward on a small plot.

Okay, sorry, let's get back to onions and their impact on the Canadian gut. The Topekan gut is somehow immune, is it?

I know of at least one fellow tomato freak in Canberra. Plough up the garden, turn it into mulched garden beds and grow tomatoes. Never have to worry about lawns again. In fact, I have a Czech variety, called Stupice, perfect for cooler climates. I've just started some seedlings. I should get a couple to you.
