Hi, my name is Arnelos...
NOTE: This is largely a copy of the same post I just made in the RP Team forum. So if you've already read that, don't worry about this one
So hi everyone, my name is Arnelos.... you may remember me from such educational dramas such as the first SPDG, the early stages of the PTWDG, and the start of the ISDG.
I spent a good deal of time being rather busy with political work in Virginia, then drove out here to Arizona to take some classes over the summer. My video card decided to fry on me (the fan that cools the card shorted out, which then caused the card itself to practically melt... bad news).
I now have a new video card (GeForce 4 ) and I'm using this as an excuse to upgrade my entire system this week.
As for other issues, I have gobs of free time compared to my busy life over the past few months, but I'm not sure how much free time I'll have when this next German class starts on July 14th.
I've been having fun hanging out with and going to the occassional party with the people I lived with in college (since I'm back there for the next month and a half). One of my roommates is an x-girlfriend, so that's a little odd, but otherwise things are pretty cool.
Gaming wise, I seem to go through stages where I'm into various genres of gaming. Over the past few months, it seems to have been a CRPG phase (though thankfully never any MMORPG's). See, I bought MoO3 and I played that a lot for about a month before I got bored of it and progressed to Neverwinter Nights and eventually back to the crack known as "Morrowind".
However, I keep getting e-mails from Togas to get my lazzy a-- back here, so I figured that since I actually have time right about now, that wouldn't be such a bad idea.
I did purchase Rise of Nations not too far back for the sole purpose of playing it with my roommates over our LAN (since two of them already owned it). That game's a lot of fun, but I've mostly played it multiplayer and I put it down when the Neverwinter Nights expansion came out (which took me only 3 days to beat... so I'm back to Morrowind for now).
I think that's probably enough stream of consciousness writing for people who haven't seen hide nor hair of me in months
So how's everyone else been? I talked to Unorthodox via IM a few days ago and he filled me in on some recent PTWDG history and Togas sent me an update a few weeks ago on that as well, but obviously I'm not that clear on all of the details. Also, how's the ISDG been going (Togas did mention it, but not much) and the new SPDG?
Thanks everyone.
Arnelos

btw...
What's up with my avatar? Is it just an error (no-one can see avatars right now) or do I have to go re-upload my avatar? Thanks
Second issue...
I've been trying to get on 'poly for three days now with no success. I've gotten a "cannot find page" error from my browser until I just tried about 30 min. ago (and I'm still on the site for now... crosses fingers). Is anyone else experiencing that or is it just me?
Thanks everyone.

Good to see ya, Arnelos!
Glad you could make it back here as well!
Reguarding your issues, Poly is being a bit on the b*tchy side lately. They have disabled avatars in an attempt to improve performance, which is why you can't see any. This is also why it is intermittantly difficult to log onto.
Here in the SPDG we have taken on the ultimate challenge of a map stressing naval combat, all civs, on diety. We had the most impressivly successfull Archer rush ever assembled and really knocked the Ottomans down to size and are now teaching our fine warriors to replace those clubs with swords to go a knocking on someone else (Zulu? I gotta find that poll...). We are warring it out in a good old fashioned Viking bloodbath this game, though.
Im trying to get all caught up in the ISDG as well, though there is a good synopsis thread in that forum to read.
Welcome back, and I hope to see you participate again. Perhaps you and I can even hold a REAL campaign sometime in the future. I promise not to drop out this time...we could really use a good debate here...

good to see you arnelos
were kicking ass pretty much
I was planning on doing a comparison from this game to the first DG as I think were doing better despite being on diety.

Ah yes, I completely sympathize with your Morrowcrack addiction. It's definitely a good thing it isn't a MMORPG that would cost $15 a month to play. I'd be broke pretty quick
Welcome back!

Morrowind is indeed certifiable video gaming crack. I've managed to get a few friends hooked on it as well
