Athens would've been nice. Too bad Samaranch cares more about bribes than history.

You have to be a big-time city to get on this list, although some cities have snuck in. How else would you explain St. Louis and Atlanta getting the games while New York and Chicago are left out in the cold?

Olympic in NY?
Blasphemy!

I think New York is one of the frontrunners for 2012.

I don't think they should get it, at least not right now. New York would be my choice for the next American host city, but we shouldn't see the Olympics again for a while. Let some other countries have the honor.

Why not? Dallas, Houston, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Washington D.C. are all putting in bids for 2012. Might as well have every state in the union competing against one another.

Wyoming would actually be a great site for the Winter Olympics. Jackson Hole would blow Calgary out of the water.

Dammit, Asher, you could at least pick funny city names instead of state names. Cheyenne in 2012!

did canadians ever have the olympics? I dont recall one. maybe in toronto or something like that?
|
As you may have already seen, the '76 summer games were in Montreal, and the '88 winter games were in (shudder) Calgary. Toronto bid for 2008, and made the short list, but came in third, I think, behind Beijing (the winner) and... Istanbul, was it?
Edmonton in 2012! We hosted the Commonwealth AND World Track & Field Championships! COME ON!

Nah, I've been there. It's nice, but it's hardly compares to the mountains here for skiing, boarding, etc.
It'll be close though. Not everyone can be the best.
You'll be competing against Calgary anyway for the next Winter olympics.

You obviously never truly experienced the grandeur of the Tetons.
