I never cared much for the going back and forth into the past and into the future crap that every damn Star Trek series always has to have.

IIRC, they actually have 2 wars they could be dealing with: one with the Romulan Empire and the other with the Klingon Empire.

No doubt
Lots of material to work with but instead we have to endure watching the crew stripping down to their drawas in the isolation room.

I know it's said, but I think TOS is the best of all of them. Yes, the special effects are ludicrous, Shatner is a horrible overactor, and some of the lines were damnably corny, but it had real innovation. It was the kind of series where anything could happen. Had some sort of social relevance too. The more modern series are all a load of crap about malfunctioning jeffries tubes and wormholes. If I wanted a lesson in quantum physics I'd pick up a Feynman book, dammit. Only TNG was really watchable, and that was because Patrick Stewart carried the whole thing. DS9 got old fast and Voyager was no better. I've only seen one or two episodes of Enterprise so I can't make any real statement. Except to affirm that, yes, the Vulcan chick is hot, and yes, that theme song sucks. What little I saw seemed to have some vague amount of creativity too(I only saw the first two or three episodes).
And Wrath of Khan was a helluva lot better than the modern movies.

I predict a pattern.

Except TOS was great.
Plus, Enterprise is pretty good.

i hate enterprise.
throwing in the "suliban"; the enterprise looking like the akira class; the bridge looking more modern than even voyager's; the vulcans being evil; adding in the ferengi; cheapness of the decontam scene...
enterprise lost me a while back.
voyager had some good episodes, but on the whole it was a poor showing. i didn't like how in seasons 3-7, over three quarters of the episodes seemed to focus on barbie.

If you would have seen it in 1967/68/69, you might have like it. I did.
I like all of them.

Well, I also hoped the events in Enterprise would lead to the formation of the Federation in later seasons - is this already ruled out from the producers?
Would be a pity....

The federation is founded after the romulan war (about 2161 I think), the show started in 2151 and is now in 2153. I think they will manage to squeeze in both the romulans and the federation stuff in due time. If the show stays that is.

Me too. These kids just haven't experienced enough cheesy Sci-Fi like we old farts have, so they don't appreciate the good stuff while it lasts. I'd recommend that they be chained to their TV sets and forced to watch any of the "original" movies produced by the Sci-Fi channel during its first three years. That oul teach them a lesson.
At the end of this season the Enterprise has set off towards a nebula which hides some species that intends to send a giant spaceship to destroy the Earth. My guess is that this nebula actually holds the "Star Wars Universe" and the emporer is just using the Earth as target practise. At the beginning of the next season then we will finally get an answer to that age old question, "Star Wars vs. The Federation: who whips whose a*s?"

Odd, when I watch most of the post-TOS Star Trek series I expect to see the "Cunard" or "Holland-America" logos on the ships because their interiors look like the kind of poshness one would expect from luxury cruiseships. The latest Enterprise at least looks like a ship designed for exploration / military purposes.

I like the temporal cold war idea, although someone will have to fill me in about the plot of season two, I havent been watching lately .
Voyager was good, but IMO they damaged the idea by bringing them home. A film trilogy or something like that would have been cool (if unprofitable).
DS9 needed the borg!!!

I think DS9 was cool as it was, one of the best ST parts
For Enterprise, I think the entire setting, the characters, also the dialogues and the production design is better than in Voyager. I also got familiar with the crew pretty fast. In Voyager I needed several seasons for this. When they showed it the first time on German tv I watched some episodes, then gave up, and only returned later (shortly before 7of9 came), then it was at least ok, but not great. It got better with the Borg, but still a lot of episodes were boring, and some characters lacked individuality.
Sure there are weak episodes in Enterprise too, but overall it has much more potential.

No, they changed the title of the song and only list the performer. But the song (at least the lyrics) is some 80s Stewart song.

I like the ship much better in this one
I also like the atmosphere better, it is more similiar to ToS (which was the best of the previous ones)

I actually like the intro song to Enterprise- I didn't at first though. But the song has grown on me
of course this is coming from someone who likes the modern age music in civ3

Yes, the interior of the Enterprise is much too grey.
In Star Wars the ships, especially the fighters, looked much more interesting in Eps I and II than in IV-VI. The cockpits in those (eps 4-6) fighters looked like 1970s automobile dashboards.
A "refitting" of the Enterprise is definently in order.

Does anyone have a clue if Enterprise season 1 will be released on DVD or has it already. I don't get UPN. Stupid Paramount *******s want to keep it on one channel.
