You're a traitor to your people.
Inspector Javert kills himself by throwing himself from a bridge into the Seine.

You kidding? Paris is gorgeous, and soon the French will have it so they only go to work 2 days a week.

I don't think that's true of the cosmopolitan, youthful types in Paris. The older folks in the countryside are cranky, though.

Knowing what you were like just 2 years ago, I wonder if the problem wasn't with the Parisians...

It wasn't just to me, it was to our entire group.
Spain and even the UK were far more hospitable.

I believe recently did a survey of Frenchmen. When asked who were the rudest people in the world, a majority went with Parisians.

This is not suprirsing. Parisians aren't popular in the other regions of France. They have the reputation of being arrogant, know-it-all, and to feel "like in conquered territory" when in other parts of France (i.e ignorant and not willing to learn about the local uses). This is largely a prejucide, but there is truth in it.

Yeah, I gotta agree with the anti-Parisiens. Those people were really about as warm and welcoming as a bad case of syphilis.
Sorry to any Paris fans, the art and architecture was nice, but the atmosphere was 'le poo'.

"Sean... Winnie... Brian... and Josh...."
"Not meaning to sound snarkey, but what happened to all your siblings, st_swithin?"
Not snarkey at all. You know, I've often wondered the same thing, JohnT. The truth is, I don't know. I have absolutely no idea. I mean, most of the time, I don't know who or where I am either.
I figure it this way: they're not looking for me, so I should probably return the favour. Maybe they just want to have lives of their own, you know?

I couldn't bother to read this entire thread (I'll do it eventually) but I notice that people are getting so close to each other here that they are even sharing personal details about their lives. Where is that glorious anonymity that marked the first days of this forum? Where is that "hey, you don't need to know anything about me except that I like civ games" spirit? I feel so lonely when I'm the last of the anonymous apolytoners...

Alex: why the anonymity? When one begins to debate/discuss such issues that we do here it seems only natural that one would begin to understand the other people to a point that such obscurity vanishes... Besides, arguing issues backed up by facts is so blase

I am Alpha and I am Omega. Fear me for I have come to claim what is mine to take. Your days are coming to an end as I walk upon you and your eyes lack the respect that is due to me, your leader and master.
Soon will be the day of reckoning and I am already amongst you. It is too late to repent.

Alex, give only what you expect to receive. If you want anonymous, mindless chatter, and you don't want to go to the local singles bar, I'm sure the Britney Spears site has lots of forums you can post to.
BTW: Does anyone else get that annoying popup ad?
