Science: Next Technology
We now have knowledge of 32 difference forms of enlightenment, including the much desired Monotheism .
I have calculated the odds of the available techs and would like to know what techs the most wise citizens would like our scientists to pursue (should we acquire Chivalry either from the Hut People, or by this strange method of starving the people and thereby making them research faster? One has to ask what manner of creature was this "Xin" to conceive of such a barbaric idea )
22/93 Chivalry 22/93 = 23.66%
11/93 Economics 11/93 = 11.83%
3/93 Engineering 3/93 = 3.23%
32/93 Navigation 32/93 = 34.41%
25/93 Theology 25/93 = 26.88%

P.S. anyone noticing any inconsistencies between this poll and the last one...it was the banana's fault (my deputy minister).

After voting too early in the last poll, I say we should go for Engineering - Explosives will be very valuable in this game.

Fortunately, Chemistry was one fo the advances we aquired (in 100 AD IIRC). Engineering is still on the path to explosives however.

We are still doing tons of hut exploring, and gaining techs thru huts. I would rather not get a pre-req to invention, and hold off on invention as long as possible. Thus, no engineering. With nothing else good besides engineering (Why isn't chivalry an option to vote on?), I voted for economics. It will eventually help us rush build.

Doh! Another good point....
BTW Sparrowhawk - those odds you calculate - are they odds of being offered the next time we can choose a tech to research or are they the odds of getting the tech through huts?

On the last round of turns by our King, we were successful in finding Monotheism from a hut, and true to the wishes of the people he next selected Chivalry to research (and were are about 1/2 way to researching it, which is still a long way away in terms of turns). Therefore, it is not a option to research "next" as we are currently researching it!

The odds I have posted are the odds of finding those techs from a hut, I don't know how to calculate the odds of what techs will appear when next we get to select techs while I am aware there is a way of calculating it, I don't recall ever seeing it in the Great Library.

well if we pop huts, you never know what were going to get...so why not research on the path in case we don't get what we really want?
eventually it will be gold/units/barbs...
i say take engineering and take our chances....you have to get two techs before the tech/hut thing expires.....
we will get other techs i can almost guarrantee it

Just for further information, I thought I would post the techs we can still get without invention. (In other words, the techs that are still possible from huts)
This list is getting shorter, and we will soon need to find ways to increase our science rate if we hope to maintain our technological lead.
Navigation
Physics
Magnetism
Chivalry
Engineering
Invention
Sanitation
Economics
Theology
(where = prerequisite tech above)
So basically, even if we are extremely lucky , the best case scenario is we get 8 more techs before aquiring Invention from a hut.
Not sure if this helps anyone, but I was curious, and thought I would pass this along.
