Princess Diana is back...as a mutant superhero!

Marvel to unveil mutant Di
Marvel Comics says Princess Diana will be reincarnated as a mutant comic book superhero this September.
The character will appear in a five-series storyline called Di Another Day in Marvel's X-Statix monthly comic, a spinoff from its popular X-Men.
Marvel spokesman Brian Reinert says the first of the comic books will go on sale on September 10.
He says Di appears as one of the team of super-powered mutants in a satirical look at fame and pop culture.
"They're more concerned about their bank accounts than saving people from injuries and saving the world," he said. X-Statix writer Peter Milligan said the late princess was "tailor-made" for the series because she is "someone famous for being famous".
"At a glance, Diana may not resemble the flying, teleporting, lethally oscillating characters that populate my comic, but the strange power she exerts from beyond the grave certainly makes her a valid subject to explore," Mr Milligan said in a statement issued by Marvel.
"And, of course, she looks great in Spandex!"
A Buckingham Palace spokesman has called the idea "utterly appalling" and a "cheap attempt to cash in on Diana's fame and the tragic circumstances surrounding her death".

I find this very amusing. I haven't read this comic series, but from what people have said, it's supposedly very good and this idea would fit in well with it.

There's going to be a lot of people in Britain who'll hate this.
Thankfully, I'm not one of them.

I do feel kinda sorry for her kids though. I know that if my mum died I wouldn't appreciate some ******* comic book geeks taking the piss out of her for thier own profit.

I wonder if the action figure will be as anatomically correct as that Hulk doll....

I totally agree with this.
I won't lose any sleep over it though.

Why? The comic itself is just a bit of art aimed at investigating the cult of fame in modern society. No-one embodies that more than Diana.
Why shouldn't real dead people be represented in fiction?

Those are unrelated points.
There is no reason why they can't use Diana, or any dead person, but that doesn't stop it being cheap humour at their expense.
I didn't like Diana, I thought she was fake, and I'm sure the comic will probably give me a wry smile if I read it. I would probably still think it little more than tat though.

If I were the late, great LPrDi, I'd probably think it was pretty cool that I was getting immortalised in a comic book, and not be remembered as the cute blonde English girl with puppy fat who 'married' into 'royalty'.
I mean, what if they'd made her the T3? Oh look, a blond bombshell cyborg with big tits - I bet NOBODY saw that one coming!!!
