help with BSOD
my freind got a new computer
it is a shuttle sp61gt with 512 MB of corsair ram (DDR400)
it has a Power-Color Radeon 9700 graphics card
a P4 2.4GHz 800 FSB processor
a raptor (WD SATA drive)
a plexor DVD/CD-rw
he has put Win98 SE on it, but it has the occasional BSOD (they appear random, often come when installing but than that it basically all he does)

bump
the error was often the time where a memory address appears and saying something couldn't be found or is out of bounds (I never wrote it down and am not with my freind right now)

1. BSoD happens with Windows - you cannot eliminate it entirely
2. Does that happen when your friend run a particular program (or programs)?
3. It can also caused by the CPU overheating.

win98 has a higher frequency of bsod than winxp or win2k.
migrate to win2k or winxp.

yeah, win98 sucks. winme sucks harder.
if could also be he didn't have all the drivers correct; if the computer came with xp or 2k or nt installed, and he simply used those drivers with 98, that would be a quick route to a bsod.

I'd recommend that he stay with W98 as long as those BSoD's don't occur often.

BSOD is almost always an IRQ conflict. Usually accompanied by a IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (/Conflicting device) message. Well not always, but thats my expierence anyway
If you could read that error. It always helps

There are four kinds of jacking: thread, off, car, and in

How can anyone make a thread about BSOD's related to sex?
