Can't open saved files

After re-installing Civ3 and Civ3PTW I cannot open my old saved files. All I get is an error message saying:
DataIO operation System Error: LEAD

What am I doing wrong?

Have you patched up to 1.21 yet?
(maybe you are using different savegame versions (allthough that shouldn't make any difference AFAIK)

Hi,

Yes, I have patched to 1.21 and tried to open the sav-files before and after installing the patch. Same results.
