Like I said before, because the good people of Norway really do believe their country stands for freedom and democracy, and they wouldn't like to think their government that they pay taxes to is basically the whore of corporate interests and the Godfather of oppressive regimes. Who would want to think that about their own country...

The idea that a President, of either party, is always going to have been Bought thuroughly by the corpos by the time they reach office, and the idea that spending five tax dinars to look after one corporate dinar overseas makes absolute sense from the point of view of those corporate interests, or thast risking the lives of soldiers for the commercial gain of major stock-holders makes perfect sense...

Not to mention the whole military thing, who gets paid for building and developing all the tanks and aircraft-carriers? Corporate interests do, who pays for them? Taxpayers do, does the government get to shop around much? No, basically the the government gets screwed in military contracts, but it doesn't matter because the people that run the government and greenlight contracts are corpo-friendly themselves.

Only taxpayers loose out, their infrastructure doesn't get developed, their jobs go overseas to where people have been made cheap (and where corrupt governments and corpos build extraction-infrastructure like mines and motorways and ports, but not b-roads to inter-connect villages, or education and healthcare facilities) and back home in the country of the empire people have to work harder for longer forever chasing the corporations manufactured dreams. The cost of food and housing goes up and up, and everybody runs the big hampster wheel to the globalists tune.

Right, I've gotten far to ranty and Socialist Worker on this one, I'm going to stop now, and not think or post about this kind of thing for at least a few weeks.

Drink Diet Coke.

The best way to disguise an empire is to narrow the definition so much that no nation can fit it then get so horribly offended when anyone tries to fit your nation to it that diplomats risk international incidents by merely muddering it in passing conversation.
